Position Summary: The Platform Services division within athenahealth is looking for a Manager Engineering to join their Ecosystem zone. As an Engineering manager, you will be responsible for leading 1 to 2 scrum teams. You will partner with Product to drive the success and evolution of our product roadmap.

The Team: The Platform services division is primarily responsible for developing, enhancing and maintaining the core foundational components that are required by all other development teams within athenahealth to successfully build their products. As a key member of the Ecosystem zone from the Platform division, you will help build services that enable our broader ecosystem strategy.   

   

Job Responsibilities   

  • Contribute to and help build and deliver to our product roadmap     

  • Partner with Product team to define the product roadmap, ensuring alignment with product strategy and business goals.    
    Daily execution, sprint planning, tracking deliverables     
    Provide managerial oversight of delivery of scrum teams   

  • Accountable for successful delivery of product features and help drive adoption of features with customers.    

  • Champion Agile principles and practices     

  • Set and monitor performance goals and objectives, including providing feedback through performance appraisals and day to day discussions     

  • Determine both individual performance and team goals and ensure alignment with the overall organization goals and objectives     

  • Share the team vision and strategy to foster an understanding of the overall direction and the "why" behind decisions     

  • Be a coach and mentor to your team members, helping them grow their skills and careers    

  • Recruit, hire, and onboard top engineering talent.    

   

Education, Experience, & Skills Required:      

  • Min 8 to 10 years of experience in an engineering role     

  • Min 1-2 years’ experience leading or managing teams.   

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.   

  • Strong organization and communication skills   

  • Strong Agile experience and excellent technical knowledge in software development  

  • Experience with web technologies and modern front-end development  

  • Experience in any modern programming languages - Experience in Java and Java ecosystem frameworks are good to have.     

  • Experience on cloud computing, databases is good to have  

  • Experience on AWS or any other public cloud is good to have   

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
