Athena Home Loans launched in 2019 to help Aussie borrowers save money and pay down their home loan faster. Athena’s digital mortgage platform radically simplifies the application process passing on the savings to customers as better rates.

Athena has built Australia’s first cloud-native home loan platform in direct origination, and for an exclusive period, Simpology’s Loan App 2.0 for broker channel. These platforms cover the full value chain to acquire, originate, service and fund residential mortgages. FinTech’s targeting mortgages are typically only focusing on a narrow layer of the value chain (e.g., origination), then handing back to legacy bank systems. By tackling the full stack, Athena aims to cut the cost of running a mortgage business by 70% vs. legacy players, providing sustainable advantage. 

Athena’s growth has resulted in expansion into the broker channel, bringing our disruptive proposition and helping customers lose their home loans across the largest distribution channel in the industry. The more customers we help, the better we make the game! Athena has broker distribution through > 5,500 Loan Market Group Brokers through our Apollo by LMG white label products, and via the Athena products, and > 1000 Mortgage Choice brokers via the Mortgage Choice Freedom Powered by Athena white label products. 

But this is just the beginning of the story, as Athena looks to continue to expand products, brand, channels, and distribution, changing the game for good at scale! 

Role overview 

As a Business Analyst in the product team you will report into the General Manager Lending, Product and work closely with the Product Owners and Product Managers to design and deliver the platform and technology roadmap, as well as have ownership and responsibility for serviceability tools, which will enable speed, growth, and efficiency across the home loan process. The role will be responsible for: 

• Requirements Management: You will be a key player between squads, vendors and Athena, ensuring that requirements are captured and executed as designed. 
• Serviceability: You will own the execution of serviceability including Excel tools and Platform Services, covering build, enhancement, changes, upgrades, testing, and optimisation as needed to suit new policy, products. Etc... 
• Procedures and Processes: Own the end-to-end mapping of solutions and process design, including getting hands on with integration design, data mapping and transformation, etc…  
• Test and Release process: Own and lead test setup and execution as well as coordination between vendors, partners, and Athena including documentation, test plans, and test execution management. 
• Stakeholder Management: Support the product owner to ensure stakeholders are deeply engaged and informed on delivery and release updates. 
• Squad Support: Work closely with your counterparts within the squad to ensure acceptance criteria and expected outcomes are met while also participating in scrum ceremonies, planning, standups. 
• Operational excellence: Identify and implement process improvements to increase the velocity and quality of work to deliver value to customers faster. 

BA Experience 

• 3 – 5 years Business Analyst experience 
• Outstanding product requirements management experience, from ideating through to requirements writing and business sign off  
• Strong excel skills, ability to develop, change, and enhance excel tools, specifically serviceability tools would be highly advantageous 
• Love testing, and have a heap of experience running end to end testing across business and product teams, creating cases, personas, test coverage maps, test documentation, and managing testing through to completion and sign off 
• Experience in home lending, either in product or operations would be essential 
• Not afraid to get hands dirty and support integration, data mapping, detailed requirements, engage vendors, etc… 
• Comfortable working in an Agile financial technology environment 
• Highly analytical, with a logical engineering brain and are great with numbers 
• Super collaborative:  no egos, elbows or brilliant assholes
