Sr Specialist Network Technology Support - Unix System + Azure

Job Description:

This position is supporting the Mobility Services Operations team under Global Network Operations. Responsible for operation, monitoring, troubleshooting, implementation, and change management of new software and applications relative to Virtual Short Messaging Service Center (SMSC) and ANTI-SPAM platform deployments and upgrades. As a subject matter expert representing operations on systems, work closely with labs and engineering teams to help ensure timely and successful deployments of future services for wireless data and messaging customers. Perform final operations readiness assessments of new services and document results for management review.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

· UNIX systems administration tasks. CPU, disk and memory utilization management etc.

· Application support for cloud services – MS Azure and Kubernetes

· Application-level database support.

· Fault management configuration and maintenance.

· Network monitoring and troubleshooting.

· Support identification of root cause

· Service and process documentation.

· PERL, Shell and PHP scripting.

· Rotating 24X7 On-call support.

· Perform operational readiness analysis of new products and services.

· Troubleshooting of broad reaching network and service outages.

· Work with external partners and vendors on new applications and existing services.

Required skills:

· 3-5 Years´ experience in the systems/applications and mobility support arena.

· Strong knowledge of Mobility architectures

· Strong Linux/Unix Skills

· Knowledge of cloud applications, including Openstack, VMWare, MS Azure and Kubernetes

· Strong troubleshooting skills

· Scripting with PERL, Shell and or PHP skills

· Excellent communication skills

· Strong understanding of TCP/IP

· Technical writing skills

· Strong understanding of internet services and principles - DNS, E-mail, HTTP.

· Ability to manage projects through their entire life cycle

Desired Skills

· Bachelor’s degree in Math, Science, Engineering

· Knowledge of Network Planning, Engineering, and Mobility architectures

· CCNA Certification
