About the Team:

Our Customer Connect team is looking for a Principal System Engineer who is passionate about the customer experience and has analytical and multi-tasking abilities to thrive in a fast-paced environment. The role is responsible for reviewing the long-term Salesforce enabled business roadmap for the multiple channels, ensuring that cross functional product, delivery and business teams are working in concert to deliver business value. The individual will have an intimate knowledge of the current state of the business and technology and implements the plan to achieve the desired future state.

About the Job:

This Principal System Engineer is responsible for the technical design, development, and code review of product feature enhancements for the Accounting Seed application.

This individual will actively participate in design sessions with business analysts, the product owner, and other technical team members, bringing their technology and people leadership skills to the team. This role will take the lead in designing and building solution components, developing unit tests, guiding testing strategy, and playing an active role in ensuring quality throughout the development lifecycle. It is essential for this person to work closely with the leadership team to balance business needs with the best technical solutions to fulfill those needs. The Principal System Engineer will make a significant impact by researching, analyzing, designing, proposing, and delivering solutions that align with the business and technology strategies. Staying well-versed in the ever-changing technology stack of the Salesforce platform is crucial for success in this role.

Responsibilities and Day-to-Day View

• Proficiency in Salesforce Architecture Track: Demonstrated expertise in Salesforce technologies, including APEX, Visualforce, Lightning/LWC, and Force.com. Strong knowledge of the SFDC Data Model across various clouds/products and extensive data modeling experience.

• Track record of success: Proven history of successful project delivery for large enterprise Salesforce implementations, with a focus on architecting solutions for Service Cloud and Omnistudio.

• Process improvement: Continuously identify opportunities and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

• Design and documentation: Prepare and document design principles, best practices, requirements, and architectural designs to guide the development process.

• Collaboration: Work with business, IT, and vendor delivery teams to develop and deploy scalable software and services across the organization.

• Communication and consultation: Communicate and consult with end-users and stakeholders to understand objectives, share platform capabilities, and architect appropriate solutions.

Platform knowledge: Maintain knowledge of current platform capabilities and vendor roadmap to stay informed about the latest developments.

Technology advancements: Stay current with technological advancements within the Salesforce platform, planning for the organization to utilize new release functionality as it becomes available.

DevOps culture: Promote and lead by example a DevOps culture, empowering the team to own each aspect of the development, promotion, and operation of their code.

Influence and change management: Influence business and technology leaders to create and promote change for improving existing business processes, increasing ROI, and overall effectiveness using Salesforce and its plugins.

Solution governance: Be responsible for solution governance, managing technical debt, and ensuring high reuse of common features.

Data management strategy: Develop and execute a Salesforce data management strategy to maintain data integrity and reliability.

• Pursue and maintain professional certifications for key technologies and domain capabilities to showcase expertise and stay competitive in the market.

Qualifications:

Education: A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, software engineering, or a related field is often preferred. However, relevant experience and certifications may sometimes compensate for the lack of formal education.

Salesforce Certifications:

A Salesforce certification, such as Salesforce Platform Developer I, Salesforce Platform Developer II, or Salesforce Platform App Builder, demonstrates a strong understanding of the Salesforce platform and its capabilities. For a Technical Lead or Architect role, more advanced certifications, such as Salesforce Certified Technical Architect (CTA) or Salesforce Certified Application Architect, are highly valuable.

Experience: Prior experience working as a Salesforce Developer, Technical Lead, or Architect is essential. The candidate should have a proven track record of designing, developing, and implementing complex Salesforce solutions, as well as experience leading or mentoring development teams.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in Salesforce development tools and languages, such as Apex, Visualforce, Lightning Web Components (LWC), SOQL, and SOSL, is crucial. Additionally, a strong understanding of software architecture principles, design patterns, and best practices is necessary for this role.

Integration and API Skills: Knowledge of integration techniques, such as REST and SOAP APIs, and experience integrating Salesforce with external systems is valuable.

Leadership Skills: The ability to lead, inspire, and motivate team members, as well as manage projects and resources effectively, is essential for a successful Principal Salesforce Engineer.

Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills are critical for effectively collaborating with team members, stakeholders, and end-users, as well as for documenting technical specifications and architectural designs.

Problem-solving Skills: The ability to analyze complex problems, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions is important for a Principal Salesforce Engineer.

Time Management Skills: The Principal Salesforce Engineer must be able to effectively manage their time and prioritize tasks, ensuring that project deadlines and milestones are met.

Continuous Learning: A commitment to staying up-to-date with the latest Salesforce features, technologies, and best practices is essential for a successful Principal Salesforce Engineer.

 Our Principal-System Engineers earn between $141,300 -$211,900. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
