Job Description

Lead, Technical Architecture – Consulting & Professional Services

Role Summary: Lead the pre-sales, design, and delivery of scalable, secure, and efficient technology solutions for enterprise customers. Partner with clients to assess business needs, recommend strategic solutions, and support complex transformation programs across network, security, cloud, data centre, mobility/5G, unified communications, and OT environments.

Experience Required: 10+ years in a pre-sales/sales environment, 15+ years in strategic IT consulting/professional services, 15+ years delivering large-scale multinational transformation projects, and 8+ years managing small teams in Japan or APAC. Native-level Japanese and intermediate/advanced English are required.

Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred. Relevant industry certifications such as CCIE, CISSP, or equivalent expertise are desirable.

Key Responsibilities

The consultant will act as both engagement lead and Japan delivery manager, responsible for:

  • Build strong relationships with Sales, working in a pre-sales capacity, capable of creating detailed Statement of Works and assisting/responding to RFPs.
  • Leading strategic advisory engagements, including discovery, requirements gathering, current-state assessment, solution alternatives, recommendations, roadmap development, architecture, integration, migration planning, and governance.
  • Managing complex professional services projects from customer identification through delivery and invoicing.
  • Providing technical leadership across design, implementation, testing, migration, and client enablement.
  • Supporting presales efforts through proposals, statements of work, presentations, and value articulation.
  • Mentoring and supporting Japan team members while coordinating with the regional professional services manager.
  • Collaborating with customers, partners, vendors, product teams, and internal stakeholders to deliver business-aligned solutions.

Qualifications and Attributes

  • Strong pre-sales experience, winning bids and multiple sales engagements.
  • Strong leadership, documentation, project delivery, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to lead complex engagements in large, global, and ambiguous environments.
  • Strong business acumen, financial analysis capability, and experience developing business cases, TCO, and ROI assessments.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and executive-facing documentation skills.
  • Ability to travel based on engagement needs.
  • Ethical, accountable, collaborative, self-directed, and able to mentor less experienced team members.

Technical Expertise

The ideal candidate should bring broad technical experience across many technologies, and must have proven expertise in either or both of the following practices:

  • Networking: IPv4/IPv6, WAN, SD-WAN, MPLS, Hybrid WAN, Internet VPN, Ethernet, QoS, IP routing, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, NAT, DNS/DHCP, campus LAN, and wireless.
  • Data Centre: Core, distribution, segmentation, legacy and fabric-enabled architectures, Cisco ACI, SDN, and SDDC.

In addition, experience and capability in any of the following practice areas is desirable:

  • Security: Firewall design and implementation using Cisco ASA, Check Point, Palo Alto, Fortinet, load balancing/F5, SASE, Prisma, Zscaler ZPA, ZDX, and ZIA.
  • Cloud and Virtualization: Hybrid cloud, AWS, Azure, VMware, network virtualization, and related technologies.
  • Automation and AI: AIOps, Python scripting, automation tools, and AI-enabled network and security improvements.
  • Other Areas which are advantageous: IoT, mobility/5G, OT integration, enterprise voice, unified communications, contact centre solutions, Microsoft Teams, and Cisco Communication Manager.

A successful candidate would have proven experience in at least two if not three of the practices above.
