Description

The ASUS Robotics & AI Center is seeking a Robotics Hardware Specialist to join our global research and development team. This role is essential to the physical assembly, maintenance, and operational readiness of our prototype autonomous robotics units, ensuring every system is built to the highest standards of structural integrity, signal integrity, and safety.

We are looking for a skilled, detail-oriented professional with deep hands-on experience in robotics hardware assembly, electrical systems, and lab management. The ideal candidate takes ownership of the physical health of our platforms and lab environment, enabling the broader engineering team to develop and iterate rapidly.

  • Perform mechanical integration of sensors, actuators, and compute modules, ensuring proper vibration isolation and structural integrity.
  • Execute complex wiring harnesses, custom cable fabrication, and soldering for power distribution and signal integrity.
  • Implement thermal management solutions and verify power system integrity and safety.
  • Perform regular health checks on prototype units and replace worn or failed components.
  • Maintain engineering lab inventory, including organizing components, forecasting needs, and procuring hardware to prevent development delays.
  • Maintain hardware documentation including wiring diagrams and system diagrams.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to support rapid prototyping and iterative hardware development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, robotics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of industry work experience or equivalent.
  • Proficiency with mechanical assembly tools and hands-on hardware integration.
  • Experience handling high-current DC power systems safely and effectively.
  • Experience implementing thermal management solutions for enclosed electronics.
  • Comfortable working in a Linux CLI environment.
  • Experience with 3D printing for rapid fabrication of jigs and fixtures.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage lab inventory and documentation independently.
  • Experience working with robotics hardware ecosystems is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with brushless motor propulsion systems and Electronic Speed Controllers (ESC) is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with CAD drawings is a plus.
  • Experience managing an engineering lab is a plus.
  • Experience with Git and automated testing in Bash/Python is a plus.
