Join our Commercial IT Data Analytics & AI (DAAI) team as a Product Quality Engineering Leader and become a key player in maintaining the quality and reliability of our data platforms powered by AWS services and Databricks. Located at Chennai GITC, you will shape the quality engineering strategy, supervise a team of quality engineers, and significantly impact the success of our data platform initiatives.

Accountabilities

As the Product Quality Engineering Team Leader for data platforms, the key accountabilities will include:

1. Leadership and Mentorship:

• Guide the design, development, and maintenance of scalable and secure data infrastructure and tools to support the data analytics and data science teams.
• Mentor and develop a team of Product Quality Engineers to deliver high-quality, reliable, and scalable data products.

2. Quality Engineering Standards:

• Develop and implement data and data engineering quality assurance strategies and plans tailored to data product build and operations.
• Define and build Quality engineering standards and implement comprehensive quality engineering initiatives.
• Maintain quality standards in design, code, and data models, ensuring thorough reviews at each stage of the development life cycle.

3. Collaboration:

• Partner with Product Engineers and the DevOps team to share quality engineering standards and best practices across all product release trains, ensuring consistency.
• Collaborate with data engineers to understand data sources, transformations, and dependencies thoroughly.

4. Technical Expertise:

• Exhibit expert understanding of AstraZeneca’s application development processes in implementing data products.
• Act as an integral member of the DevOps teams, engaging with development stories, with hands-on experience in one of the ETL tools and expertise in PySpark.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior data engineering team members.

5. Innovation and Process Improvement:

• Drive the adoption of new technologies and tools to improve data engineering processes and efficiency.
• Recommend and implement enhancements to improve reliability, efficiency, and quality of data processing pipelines.

These accountabilities will play a crucial role in ensuring the high quality and reliability of data products within DAAI’s data platforms.

Essential Skills/Experience

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Skills and Experience:

• Strong expertise in Databricks and PySpark.
• Proficiency with the AWS suite of applications.
• Comprehensive understanding of quality engineering principles and standard methodologies.
• Proven track record in leading quality assurance or quality engineering projects within a data-centric environment.
• Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve and deliver solutions in complex data environments.
• Experience in developing and implementing quality engineering strategies.
• Demonstrated experience in leading and mentoring quality engineering teams.
• Experienced in Agile Development techniques and methodologies.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical team members.

Desirable Skills/Experience

• Certifications in AWS and Databricks.
• Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as Python.
• Rigorous attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
• Hands-on experience with data pipeline and data integration processes.
• Familiarity with data governance and data management practices.
• Solid understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts.
• Experience working in agile and fast-paced environments.
• Prior significant experience working in Pharmaceutical or Healthcare industry IT environment.
