In the Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolism (CVRM) therapy area, we are now opening a new exciting opportunity within Late CVRM Biometrics as Senior Data Scientist. In collaboration with clinicians and statisticians, we use machine learning, predictive modelling, and visualisation to support delivery of our clinical trial pipeline and drive scientific breakthroughs. This role will be based at AstraZeneca’s R&D site in Barcelona, Spain.
As a Senior Data Scientist, you will develop innovative analytics solutions, machine Learning models, generative AI solutions and advanced visualizations, to generate data-driven disease understanding and improved drug development processes.
Responsibilities include:
- Design and implement statistical and machine learning models to support and expedite data-driven decision-making
- Create novel analytics solutions with applications both within our organization and externally
- Collaborative Partnerships: Build and maintain strong collaborations with a diverse range of internal and external partners
- Stay informed about industry trends and recommend new technologies and approaches for the company to adopt
- Work closely with subject matter experts to understand their analytical needs, ensure analyses are fit for purpose, and clearly communicate insights
Essential for the role
- MSc Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Physics, or a related quantitative field
- Proficiency in Python programming, with experience in developing generative AI model solutions, such as retrieval-augmented generation
- Strong skills in data analysis, drawing actionable insights, and presenting findings clearly and succinctly
- Proven track record of successful collaboration with stakeholders and impactful data science project delivery
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Desirable for the role
- PhD in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- Experience in working with large language models
- Software development experience (e.g. Python, R)
- Experience in clinical pharmaceutical development
