Mechanical Integration Engineer
As a member of the Mechanical Integration team at Astranis, you'll be responsible for building parts, subsystems, and ultimately, entire satellites. You will work closely with designers to collaborate on design for manufacturability, technicians to ensure they have what they need to keep building hardware, and test teams to collaboratively produce the future of communication satellites. As we continue to grow our production capability, you will also have an opportunity to define new iterations of our factory including process improvements, equipment design and selection, and workflow definition.
Role
- Design high-level architecture and manage vehicle integration and test operations
- Define and author flight hardware integration flows, plans, processes, and procedures
- Evaluate proposed designs for manufacturability and integration
- Evaluate non-conformances to determine root cause and create actionable items and system improvements
- Work hands-on with flight hardware at build, test and launch sites to ensure mission success
- Design ground support equipment to assist with the assembly, integration and test of the spacecraft
- Create, maintain and communicate detailed schedules, ensuring the team is aware of tasks and deadlines, including resource identification and acquisition
- Assist in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring additional teammates to our rapidly-growing team
Requirements
- Bachelor's of Science degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or equivalent
- 2+ years experience in hands-on mechanical engineering, manufacturing, or equivalent role (including internships or club experience)
- Hands-on experience with handling, lifting, or building complex assemblies
- A passion for hardware development, including working in a fast-pace environment and hands-on design and/or process and development
- Ability to not only find problems, but also quickly identify and evaluate multiple solutions
- Strong communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize
- Strong sense of accountability, integrity, and team focus with extensive multitasking and organizational experience
