Senior Aero R&D Design Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Leading the design, planning and delivery of complex Aero R&D projects from concept to completion. 
• Acting as the technical focal point across multiple departments to ensure successful project execution. 
• Mentoring and supporting engineers, helping to develop capability within the team. 
• Designing and overseeing the delivery of components, rigs, tooling, fixtures and aerodynamic test equipment.
• Reviewing and approving CAD data, engineering drawings and technical documentation. 
• Ensuring designs are robust, manufacturable, fit for purpose and delivered to demanding timescales. 
• Steering problem-solving and continuous improvement activities throughout development and testing programmes. 
• Carrying out feasibility studies and creating design solutions that support both operational and project requirements.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• A degree qualification (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline. 
• Experience in a mechanical design engineering role, ideally within motorsport or other high-performance engineering environments.
• Advanced 3D CAD modelling skills, preferably using CATIA V6 / 3DEXPERIENCE. 
• Strong understanding of engineering drawing standards, including BS8888. 
• Excellent knowledge of Design for Manufacture (DfM). 
• Sound understanding of manufacturing processes, materials and mechanical engineering principles.
• Experience using stress analysis methods and validating designs through physical testing.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a creative approach to engineering challenges. 
• Ability to make sound decisions and deliver results within fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
