At Aston Martin Formula One, every component matters. We're looking for a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Driver Controls group within Mechanical Design and help develop innovative, high-performance solutions that contribute directly to the performance of our Formula One cars.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be a key member of the design team, responsible for the design, development, testing, and continuous improvement of a wide range of mechanical components and assemblies. You'll work closely with colleagues across engineering functions to deliver advanced solutions under demanding timescales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Concept design through detailing of mechanical, hydraulic and composite components and assemblies.
  • Produce high-quality engineering drawings to support the manufacture of components and assemblies.
  • Support a variety of design projects through build, assembly, testing, and development phases.
  • Identify and implement practical engineering solutions to challenges arising during testing and development.
  • Contribute and promote the ongoing development and improvement of design concepts, fault analysis, processes, and methodologies.
  • Contribute to design reviews at individual level through to whole engineering team level.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of mechanical design principles and Formula One regulations.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring components are robust, lightweight, innovative and ready to meet the demands of elite motorsport.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

We’re looking for someone enthusiastic, detail‑focused and ready to thrive in a fast‑paced environment. You should have:
  • A relevant engineering degree or equivalent qualification supported by experience in motorsport or a related field.
  • Experience producing detailed designs and drawings for complex mechanical assemblies.
  • Strong CAD skills, ideally with Catia V6. Training will be provided for those converting from other CAD systems.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure and deliver results to tight deadlines.

Benefits

As part of our high-performing, collaborative team, you'll enjoy a competitive package, including a discretionary bonus scheme, private healthcare, pension plan, life assurance, TEDSgroup childcare benefits, a cycle-to-work scheme, tech scheme, and car scheme.

You will also have access to our state-of-the-art facilities at the AMR Technology Campus, featuring a new on-site gym with fitness, spin and yoga classes, a bistro café, and restaurant.
