About Engineering at Aston Martin Aramco

Our Engineering function covers a wide range of disciplines, all working together to deliver performance on track. From design to testing, from materials to systems integration, every team plays a vital role in creating a competitive Formula One® car.

As a placement student, you’ll join one of our specialist teams and gain hands-on experience in cutting-edge motorsport engineering.

Role Spotlights

We’re offering placements across several engineering areas. Whichever team you join, you’ll contribute to real projects that shape the performance of our Formula One® cars. Within your application, you’ll be asked to select your top three preferred roles from this advert, and your top one favourite.

Aerodynamics Design
Apply F1 design principles to projects beyond motorsport, working on advanced mechanical and composite components. You’ll design and develop parts, tooling and fixtures while exploring new materials and processes. This role is perfect if you want to broaden your experience and see how F1 innovation translates into other industries.

Aero R&D Design
Design the components that drive Formula 1 aerodynamic development. Working from concept through to wind tunnel testing, you'll create CAD models, develop high-precision parts and deliver rapid design iterations for the team's aerodynamic programme.
Working closely with Aerodynamicists, Designers and manufacturing specialists, you'll transform ideas into test-ready components while supporting model quality and ensuring accurate, repeatable testing. This role offers hands-on experience in advanced CAD, precision engineering and wind tunnel model development, providing a unique opportunity to contribute directly to the aerodynamic performance and future development of a Formula 1 car.

Composite Design
Composite Design is one of the most central departments in the design of our F1 cars. Taking ideas and surfaces from Aerodynamics, then creating functional, structurally sound components that can endure the strain of race conditions. This department covers components across the whole car and provides opportunities to work on everything from Wings and Bodywork to Chassis and Internals. We work alongside our Structures and Manufacturing departments to continuously improve performance while implementing weight reduction strategies to get the best out of our work. With a hands-on approach to design and manufacturing, we are responsible for Composite components from cradle to grave giving a rounded experience of the F1 design cycle.

Garage Equipment Design
Work on the design of bespoke garage and pit equipment to support car build and race operations. You’ll turn requests from the race team into working solutions, from concepts through to testing and delivery. This is a creative, hands-on role where you’ll see your work used directly in race and test events.

Mechanical Design
Join the mechanical design team to create components and systems for the race car, from early concepts through to detailed CAD and manufacture. The department is responsible for a large range of subsystems including suspension, uprights, steering, brakes and driver controls. You’ll support the build, testing, and development of your designs, applying practical solutions to real engineering challenges. This role gives you insight into the full design cycle in Formula One®.

AMPT Mechanical Design (Aston Martin Performance Technologies)
Apply F1 design principles to projects beyond motorsport, working on advanced mechanical and composite components. You’ll design and develop parts, tooling and fixtures while exploring new materials and processes. This role is perfect if you want to broaden your experience and see how F1 innovation translates into other industries.

Power Unit Installation
Power Unit Installation is responsible for integrating the Honda power unit into the car including design and packaging of the cooling system, fuel system, exhausts, and other associated hardware. The group collaborates closely with Honda, Aero, and other design departments to optimise the systems for both performance and reliability. You’ll support the design process from concept to manufacture, working on practical solutions for integration challenges in a fast-paced and driven environment. You will be well-suited to this role if you are a motivated, passionate, and curious individual who enjoys working in a team-environment.

Test & Development
Be part of the team that validates components and systems through testing. You’ll help design test rigs, support assembly and execution, and analyse results to improve reliability and performance. This role is highly hands-on and ideal for students who enjoy seeing theory put into practice.

Electronics
Electronics are responsible across the full product lifecycle, from requirements capture and circuit design through to prototyping, PCB layout, calibration and testing, while working on sensor interfaces, embedded systems, data acquisition solutions, power supplies. You’ll support the development of HIL testers, driver simulators and calibration rigs as well as assist with harness design, sensor selection and production support, using a range of specialist test equipment including oscilloscopes, signal generators and logic analysers. Alongside this, you'll help drive continuous improvement in design processes, engineering tools and quality standards.
