We're looking for an Electronics Systems Engineer to play a key role in the setup, development and support of electronic systems used across our Formula One programme, from race cars and simulators to test rigs and development facilities.

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of a high-performance engineering environment, delivering innovative solutions that directly impact vehicle performance, reliability and race operations.

Key Responsibilities

As an Electronics Systems Engineer, you'll take ownership of critical electronic systems and support their deployment across the business. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Developing electronic systems for race cars, simulators, test rigs and development facilities.
  • Configuring, calibrating and implementing instrumentation, sensor and data logging systems.
  • Setting up and supporting ECUs, data loggers and instrumentation for testing and race operations.
  • Developing and integrating custom electronic systems and controllers.
  • Supporting sign-off testing of vehicle systems and assemblies.
  • Diagnosing faults across sensors, wiring harnesses, electronic control units and vehicle systems.
  • Analysing telemetry data to assess system health and identify performance issues.
  • Developing onboard diagnostic tools and software to improve fault detection and reliability.
  • Working closely with project owners to define and deliver electronic system requirements.
  • Providing factory and occasional trackside support during test and race events.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

We're looking for an engineer who combines strong technical expertise with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset. You'll ideally have:
  • A degree in Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics or a related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of electronics, instrumentation and electronic installations.
  • Experience with sensors, data logging systems and electronic measurement techniques.
  • Experience working with motorsport ECUs, data loggers and interfaces, ideally SECU and McLaren Applied systems.
  • Good understanding of automotive and motorsport communication networks.
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and circuit schematics.
  • Experience using engineering software and tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, Zuken, PCAN and C++.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to perform under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Willingness to travel within the UK and internationally when required.
