ASML supports the semiconductor industry’s ongoing quest to produce faster, smarter and more energy efficient chips. ASML provides lithographic systems and solutions that the semiconductor industry needs to achieve this these goals. The development and creation of those systems is accomplished in strong cooperation with ASML’s suppliers.
ASML is looking for Supplier Quality Engineers (SQE) that act as a linking pin between the ASML Development & Engineering (D&E) teams, Strategic Sourcing & Procurement (SS&P) and ASML’s suppliers.
As a Supplier Quality Engineer within D&E you will develop and maintain a relation with the suppliers to create an optimal engineering collaboration between suppliers and ASML. Using your excellent communication and skills to influence without power, you work with suppliers, ASML development teams and Strategic Sourcing & Procurement to optimize the industrialization of ASML’s design and suppliers processes. The main goal of this cross-sector activity is to secure an excellent quality and timely delivery of parts by our suppliers.
As a mechatronic SQE, you also act as in interface for the PL to other contributing SQE in the project. You take the overall responsibility of the deliverables and manage those with the other SQE involved as well as take on some of them yourself.
Roles and Responsibilities
Within the D&E organization, the SQE is the primary person to secure industrialization of the hardware that is outsourced to suppliers. From early design requirements and supplier selection until release for volume of the product design and supplier processes SQE is involved. Using your in-depth technical knowledge, stakeholder management and excellent people skills, you work closely with suppliers, utilizing their technological capabilities to enhance our designs.
The main responsibilities are:
- Coordinating role with respect to all SQE activities and deliverables (incl. other SQE colleagues) within the allocated project.
- New product introduction (NPI) and supplier selection.
- Early supplier involvement in the D&E project to secure that technology expertise of ASML and supplier are merged in the best way.
- Define the industrialization effort of the D&E project, including supplier & ASML responsibilities and deliverables via a Statement of Work (SoW).
- Ensure that parts manufacturability, testability and other dFx aspects are covered in the design phase, including implementation of lessons learned.
- Deliverables that secure parts quality from suppliers in the ASML product generation process, such as:
- Input on and acceptance of, the specification and/or design
- Complete & detailed parts qualification process
- Acceptance of qualified parts
- Process flow and Process failure mode effect analysis
- First article inspection
- Define and maintain supplier interface processes, such as:
- Issue resolution
- Qualification deviation
- Configuration & change management
- ASML factory disturbances
- Contribute to supplier development to improve operational excellence by driving execution of existing agreements, improvement actions, and participation in supplier audits.
The SQE is part of the D&E project team and, therefore, interfaces with project leaders, design engineers, architects, manufacturing & customer support engineers, logistics, procurement, etc.
Education and Experience
- You have a Bachelor or Masters degree in Physics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics or Industrial Engineering with high affinity for technology.
- You have broad (at least 5 years, preferably >5 years) experience in high-tech industry, and complex modules, with a focus on supplier quality management or part quality or project management in engineering.
- We encourage candidates with experience with Quality systems and – methods to apply for this vacancy (e.g. Six Sigma Green or Black Belt) as well as candidates with experience in engineering towards production processes.

Within ASML, D&E is responsible for the planning, development, and delivery of integrated solutions that meet business requirements. This responsibility also includes the specification and trade-offs across sectors.
The department supplies resources, means and methods and technology to ensure the parts quality in all product phases. The SQE interfaces with suppliers, development project leads, Customer Support, Manufacturing, Engineers and Procurement.
Depending on the supplier and project this position might require frequent travelling (multiple times per quarter).

Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work.
