ASML Development & Engineering

ASML develops lithography systems and applications that have a unique world class accuracy and at the same time are built to serve our customers 24/7 without failures.

.

Does it make your heart beat faster to be working with teams that drive the performance of the newest generation of ASML systems? Do you have the personality to take ownership of a problem and create a vision of how to solve it, inspiring others? Are you eager to learn and apply agile principles to expand ASML’s fast growing business?

.

In the ASML EUV Source Laser department, we are organized in 5 Agile Release Trains (ARTs). This may be your ideal environment for personal development and professional growth!

.

Source Laser, and the Drive Laser Modules group

The newest generation of ASML’s lithography machine utilizes Extreme Ultra Violet (EUV) light to expose patterns on silicon wafers: the fundament of the most advanced logic and memory semiconductors. This EUV light is created by generating a plasma from tin droplets by means of a powerful CO2 drive laser. How many wafers our customers can create per hour (productivity) is largely driven by the power of EUV, which is directly proportionate to how powerful this drive laser is.

.

Our Source Laser department (SF15) is responsible to achieve a powerful, stable and accurate laser pulse on the tin droplets in the EUV Light Source. As part of that department, our Drive Laser Modules team (FC71b) is responsible to generate and amplify the Drive Laser light, closely working together with our co-development partner TRUMPF. So essentially, our team delivers the laser technology that unlocks ASML’s EUV Source roadmap.

.

To deliver high quality, high performance laser solutions that excel in ASML’s EUV systems and (field) operations, we work closely together with our development partner TRUMPF, who develops and manufactures our Drive Laser hardware. As such, we leverage the innovation and engineering power of TRUMPF and ASML, to continuously push the boundaries of our lasers’ output, sustainability, reliability, availability, serviceability and cost.

.

Our group consists of the (senior) leaders of the train, projects and solutions, some examples of what we are working on:

  • Platform change of the High Power Drive Laser (HPDL) with the introduction of the mk5. Moving from a T-shape setup to an I-shape setup that enables power scaling to 80kW, as well as major availability, reliability and serviceability improvements.

  • Platform change from CO2 pre-pulse included in the HPDL towards a pre-pulse and rarefaction pulse created by separate 1um lasers.

  • Introduction of the HPDL mk4 (with pre-pulse) and mk4-1um (Main Pulse only, working with 1um platform) into the EXE5200, NXE3800 and NXE4000.

  • Introduction of upgrade packages on Installed Base systems such as Gas Mix Optimization (GMO) and DLPE, offering power recovery and improved availability.

.

Drive Laser Modules train

The Drive Laser Modules (DL MOD) train is the execution engine of our function and consists of approximately 95FTE + farmout. Competences found in our train include: function, EDEV, MC, MDEV, Optics, Industrialization, Integration and Configuration. There are 10 wagons/teams that each have a leadership team of PO, SM and Architect. The train cockpit consists of CPO, RTE and FCA. Our train is characterized by a complex and extensive stakeholder landscape:

  • as our deliverables have a direct impact on EUV system performance, we collaborate continually with EUV Source to optimize EUV Power

  • we work closely with TRUMPF

  • we deliver ~equally to all CO2 program clusters

  • several contributing competences are relatively new to the Agile (ADM) way of working

.

Senior Release Train Engineer (RTE)

The senior Release Train Engineer (RTE) in the Drive Laser Modules team has two main areas of responsibility:

the efficient operation of the train (~75%) drive the next phase of the ASML / TRUMPF collaboration (~25%)

.

1- The RTE is responsible for the efficient & effective operation of the train (execution on the plans and commitments), driving the train (team of teams) to become high performing towards delivering maximum value for our solution portfolio. To do this, the RTE has to align with and create buy-in from senior stakeholders (GLs, DM’s) as well as executors, with a strong focus on collaboration, cross dependencies and results. The RTE has a pivotal leadership position in the train and towards our 10 SM’s in particular (consider them your team). To be able to execute this role, four core competences are key:

  • Build a competent train, working closely with line management

  • Enable predictability, optimize execution and drive transparency

  • Drive a mindset of Technical, Business, Economic affinity

  • Ensure continuous improvement and foster a culture of learning (including the implementation of an optimized train design)

.

2-  As DL-MOD RTE you are operational and tactical lead of the ASML / TRUMPF collaboration. Recently, we have changed the design ownership of the HPDL (mk5 and further) from ASML to TRUMPF. You drive our ambition of leveraging the innovation and engineering power by continuing optimizing the collaboration between both companies. You keep oversight on the multiple ongoing workstreams focused on competence transfer, escalation support, integration and industrialization ways of working. Majority of the operational agreements are in place and are currently being implemented at both companies. As RTE you lead the execution core team and steerco whilst overseeing progress and identifying next steps.

.

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate for this senior RTE position:

  • Either has ASML experience as a Scrum Master or RTE, in addition to PL experience. Or has been an RTE at another company

  • Has experience with transformation projects and strategic suppliers

  • Has a strong serving leadership profile: an excellent team builder and facilitator. A “star maker”.

  • Excels in communication, being able to influence and create commitment throughout the organization inside and outside of the train. Is creative in managing a large and diverse range of stakeholders at all organizational levels to effect sustainable change at both ASML and TRUMPF

  • Masters train/ADM and program (cluster) processes

  • Understands the semiconductor industry needs and has an EUV system view, has a healthy interest in the technical domain of the Drive Laser

  • Thinks and acts to create maximum value throughout the entire product lifecycle and organizes accordingly pro-actively (f.i. field support, escalations)

  • Is disruptive where needed and says “NO” when required, breaking ineffective patterns. Creates a stable transparent environment of trust for the train to excel, ensuring focus is kept and preventing the teams from getting distracted

.

Education and experience

  • Master or PhD in Physics, Engineering, Mathematics or Optics

  • 10+ years project or portfolio management experience

  • Experience in ASML processes including ADM, and/or experience in SAFe / Agile

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We prioritize job seekers as our customers, unlike bigger job sites, by charging a small fee to provide them with curated access to the best companies and up-to-date jobs. This focus allows us to deliver a more personalized and effective job search experience.
  • Salaries for the engineering jobs on our site range from $100K-$200K. On average, senior engineer positions on our EchoJobs are about $160K.
  • The EchoJobs positions have been sourced and vetted from the top companies to work for in the US as a software engineer, including LinkedIn and other reputable job sites. We also have syndicated jobs from companies that have just raised funding, as well as those that have great unique products and culture. From all of these sources, our founder, Morgan, has also resourced the company's authenticity in terms of their website, public appearance, and more.
  • Yes, our users asked us for just this, so now our search filters allow you to search for your top jobs via location, as well as by onsite, remote, or both. Approximately 30% of our jobs are remote, so you’ve got the best options for you!
  • We have not yet implemented this option, but are considering doing so in the future. For the moment, you would need to cancel your subscription, and resubscribe when you wanted to come back.
  • We add new jobs to EchoJobs every day! We scan our sources for the newest jobs, verify them, and post them to EchoJobs within minutes. We add about 2,000-3,000 new jobs for you each day!
  • From starting your job search to getting hired, the entire job search process can take us software engineers anywhere between 3-6 months. However, at EchoJobs, we’re striving to shorten this duration by finding the best, newest jobs for you, so you can do less job searching, and more applying.
  • We’d recommend checking EchoJobs daily, as we add new jobs to the site each day. Additionally, if you got a chance to read our previous email on “what makes EchoJobs different from any other job search tools,” we also recommended that you set a job alert based on your job filters, so if you get emails on those new jobs, you could be checking more than once per day.
  • If you decide to continue with us after the 1-month trial, we definitely recommend this, as we all know it usually takes 3-6 months to find a quality job as a software engineer these days. So to best support you, we just adjusted our membership options at EchoJobs to monthly, 3 months, or 12 months (this option is more for passive job seekers looking a little bit for the future if they want to come back to work or make a job switch potentially. This lets you see what’s out there in case an even better fit job becomes available.)
  • EchoJobs is truly the only job site of its kind. We want to be THE spot for you to find the best job for you, and haven’t encountered any other company doing this. Other job sites are in niches besides software engineering or focus on a small portion of engineering jobs (like a specific coding language). In the words of Morgan, our founder, “I think what makes EchoJobs different is the amount of jobs, frequency that we add new jobs (we add 2,000-3,000 new jobs daily!), and the powerful search engines to find exactly the job you want more easily and efficiently. We can provide you with the most jobs that are vetted by us, we’ll continually find more new jobs for you, and we make it easier for you to apply and get hired.
