Job description
We are seeking a skilled Senior Design Engineer to join BSQ (Beam Spatial Quality) team. The ideal candidate will be someone who can identify and solve complex optical issues. As you also communicate a lot with other competencies to make your deliverables happen, this responsibility requires a high level of multidisciplinary technical knowledge combined with good communication skills and a big drive to make things happen.
Specify optical requirements, and deliver tools, test and analysis methodology, for performance monitoring and optimization. Serves as a technical expert/owner for one or more topics.
Create and perform test plans to verify if the design is meeting the requirements, on module level and integrated in the overall system.
Investigate, analyze & troubleshoot issues in a structured way, find the root cause and turn this into plannable actions to contain and solve the issues structurally.
Present results to the project team and other stakeholders. Interacts with cross-functional groups. Crosses functional boundaries and builds constructive and effective relationships throughout the whole organization.
Main responsibilities
Functional owner of 10um Beam size (including MMDC - Machine & Material Damage Control)
Provide input and EPS on beam size, especially for MMDC related deliverable
Follow-up on beam size risks with other architects
Ownership of topic and questions from other teams regarding all use cases (operational, ramp-up, set-up)
Defending priority calls towards stakeholders on BSQ team MMDC scope
Supplier interaction to drive optical specs & performance towards Metrology (BPU in 10um OP)
MP ellipticity budget
Get familiar with current analysis on MP ellipticity
Take ownership of PIR and MP ellipticity related work
Responsible for the budget mitigation
Handshake with stakeholders and document ellipticity budget in EDS
Light tightness calculations for future programs
Become the go to person competence wise
ABC tool owner
Responsible for ABC tool qualification (documentation like TPS, TAR)
Review and update EPDS
Irradiance: margin against optics LIDT
Functional and failure modes
System mode dependency
Education and Experience:
Masters degree or higher (PhD) in Physics, Optics, Opto-mechatronics or similar.
A background in high-power laser optics, UV optics, Plasma physics or Optomechanical design is a pre.
Some ~3 yrs work experience in industry

Qualifications
Proficient in ray tracing and Zemax.
Proficient knowledge Optical tolerance analysis and Stray light analysis
Familiarity with basic principles of lasers and laser system design
Affinity with physical optics propagation and basic Optomechanics, Optomechatronics
Affinity with polarization principles
Affinity with LIDT, optics damage, coatings
Affinity with ellipticity
Lasers (solid state and CO2)
