Corporate Real Estate (CRE) Engineering Competence Manager

Job Mission

As the Facilities Engineering Manager at ASML, your mission is to ensure the reliability, efficiency, and sustainability of all facility systems and infrastructure.

This role focuses on ensuring the reliability, optimization, and performance of manufacturing equipment, processes, and facilities. The Engineering Manager will oversee engineering activities, including process improvements, capital projects, equipment maintenance, and new technology integration, while ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.



This position requires strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills, along with an understanding of financial principles, and project management techniques. Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop a team of engineers (process, equipment, and facilities) to support semiconductor manufacturing operations.
  • Project Management: Lead and oversee engineering projects, including capital expenditure (CapEx) projects, from conception through execution and close-out. Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet all performance and safety standards.
  • Process Optimization: Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize manufacturing processes, reduce downtime, and increase throughput.
  • Equipment Reliability: Work closely with maintenance and operations teams to ensure high equipment reliability and minimize unplanned downtime.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with R&D, Operations, Facilities, and Maintenance teams to introduce new technology, modify equipment, and ensure alignment with production goals.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide technical leadership in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and failure mode analysis (FMEA) to solve production challenges.
  • Budget & Resource Management: Develop and manage the engineering department’s budget, including CapEx and OpEx, and ensure the appropriate allocation of resources.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all engineering activities comply with industry standards, local regulations, and company policies, with a strong emphasis on safety protocols.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive decisions, set goals, and track the performance of the engineering team.
  • Documentation: Ensure accurate documentation of engineering designs, equipment configurations, process changes, and maintenance plans.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing or a highly technical industrial environment.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in an engineering or technical management role.
  • Strong knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes, tools, and equipment.
  • Proven experience leading complex engineering projects, from concept to completion.
  • Expertise in equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and reliability engineering.
  • Familiarity with FMEA, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and other process improvement methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations, environmental standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency with engineering software and tools, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and simulation software.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a focus on continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cleanroom environments and equipment.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor industry standards (e.g., SEMI standards).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or other industry certifications related to engineering management.

General Information

  • This position is located on-site in Wilton, CT.  It requires onsite presence to attend in-person work-related events, trainings, meetings and to further ensure teamwork, collaboration, and innovation.
  • A flexible workplace arrangement may be available to employees working in roles conducive to remote work (up to 1 day a week) with management approval. 
  • At times may need to support Customer Services sites and or Veldhoven initiatives. Travel may be required up to 10 percent of the time.

Essential Job Functions

The essential job functions for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Work in a fast-paced office environment, including working in a standing or seated position for long periods sometimes exceeding 8 hours per day, 5 days per week.
  • Commute to ASML’s facility and report to work on a regular and timely basis and complete the scheduled workday on a consistent basis.
  • Routinely required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch. Occasionally required to move around the campus.
  • Perform office tasks using simple hand grasping, fine hand manipulation and reach associated with assigned tasks such as paperwork, computer keyboarding (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint), filing, calculating, and use of telephone or other handheld electronic devices, continuously sometimes exceeding 8 hours per day, five days per week.
  • Have a sufficient ability to communicate, through sight, hearing, and/or otherwise, to perform assigned tasks and maintain proper job safety conditions.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • May require travel (specify domestic and/or international) dependent on business needs – Up to 10%.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Perform other functions that may be assigned.

  • Must be willing to work in a clean room environment, wearing coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses and gloves. Working under ISO 9000/14000 standards.
  • The environment in the cleanroom is moderate in temperature with moderate to high noise level.
  • Working around lasers; working with ladders; working on platforms; and working around chemicals.
  • The employee is occasionally required to move around the campus.
