Computer Science Internship: Software security risk

Introduction

The Product Security group of ASML works on ensuring that ASML software keeps ASML IP protected and our Compliance obligations up to date. From the risks gathering, to the product usage, the team tries to guarantee that security requirements, standards and processes are implemented to meet the business needs of ASML and our customers. Together with the product security architect, and counter parts of other ASML departments, we are deploying Anti-malware features over all the product lines.

Your assignment

The team has 2 internship assignments to offer:

Assignment 1

In this assignment, you will define a testing method for software composition analysis tools specifically for IP risk and software vulnerabilities. Then you will use this method on commercial tools and a newly developed tool and compare the performance. You will work closely together with our software security team and stakeholders outside the team.

Assignment 2

In this assignment, you will define different scanning approaches with different scan depths, using a business leading software composition analysis tool. You will analyze the results on security risk and business impact. You will work closely together with our software security team and stakeholders outside the team.

This is a bachelor graduation, or master apprentice (to gain work experience) internship for 4-5 days a week with duration of a minimum 5-6 months. The starting date is asap, with latest in September 2025.

Your profile

To be the perfect match for this internship, you:

• You are a bachelor or master student in the field of software engineering, information technology or computer science;

• You have a basic understanding of security concepts;

• You are inquisitive, eager to learn and driven by curiosity.

Other requirements you need to meet:

• You are enrolled at an educational institute for the entire duration of the internship;

• You need to be located in the Netherlands to be perform your internship. In case you ‘re currently living/studying outside of the Netherlands, your CV/motivation letter includes the willingness to relocate.

• If you are a non-EU citizen, studying in the Netherlands, your university is willing to sign the documents relevant for doing an internship (i.e., Nuffic agreement).
