Assessment of nuclear power deployment potential in selected ADB developing member countries (DMCs)

2. Summary of Job Description

SD1 is looking for an intern to review the power generation requirements of 3-5 selected ADB developing member countries over the next ten years and assess whether nuclear power should be considered as a potential generation option in their respective power systems.

The intern will

  • Conduct research and analysis on projected power demand, supply gaps, and generation mix trends in selected DMCs.
  • Review national energy plans, policy documents, and sector reports to assess long‑term power system needs.
  • Examine the technical, economic, environmental, and regulatory factors that influence the feasibility of introducing nuclear power in each country context.
  • Prepare comparative assessments that highlight opportunities, risks, and enabling conditions for nuclear power adoption.
  • Synthesize findings into clear analytical notes, summaries, and draft sections of a technical report.
  • Support the preparation of presentations, briefing materials, and other knowledge products as needed.

This deliverable consists of a written assessment report that examines the potential for nuclear power deployment in the selected developing member countries. The report should summarize key findings on projected power needs, current generation capacities, policy environments, technical and economic considerations, and the readiness of each country to include nuclear energy in its future power mix. It should also outline opportunities, challenges, and recommend next steps for each DMC.

  • In addition to the report, the intern will prepare a clear and concise PowerPoint presentation that highlights the main insights, conclusions, and recommendations. This presentation will be delivered to an internal ADB audience to support discussion, knowledge sharing, and possible follow-up work.
