Senior Data Scientist - Engage Area, Navigation

Asana's Data Science team helps us fulfill our mission by informing strategy, defining success metrics, and identifying new ways to deliver user value. Data scientists are at the crux of deepening our understanding of the customers and driving more business outcomes by leveraging experimentation, causal inference, statistical and machine learning techniques, and data storytelling. The Navigation team sits within the Growth pillar of our R&D org and is responsible for ensuring customers can smoothly find anything they are looking for in Asana via core navigational elements, search, teams, and more.

This role is based in our Vancouver office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. The standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Most Asanas have the option to work from home on Wednesdays. Working from home on Fridays depends on the type of work you do and the teams with which you partner. What you’ll achieve

• Design and analyze experiments and causal analysis to ship impactful product changes that help customers quickly find what they need on Asana.
• Define and deploy new north-star metrics that capture success for the product team and individual initiatives.
• Create and promote strategic data analysis to inform promising opportunities and future product directions.
• Build models to identify product opportunities and enhance our understanding of company metrics.
• Design and develop new datasets and experimentation metrics in our data lake to improve decision-making and velocity.
• Collaborate with teams across Asana for smooth rollouts of cross-cutting navigational changes.
• Influence product decisions and roadmaps through data-driven insights.
• Mentor junior data scientists to enhance business results.

About you

• Bachelor’s degree in Math, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, a related quantitative field, or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of experience in applying data science techniques to drive technical product development and decision-making
• Solid technical background in statistics, math, computer science, information science, or another quantitative field.
• Fluency in at least one data processing and programming language (e.g., Python, Scala), relational data modeling, SQL, and familiarity with distributed data processing systems (e.g., Spark, Redshift).
• Expertise in statistical methods, experimental design, and analysis.
• Proficiency in written and verbal communication skills.
• Aptitude for effective collaboration with peers and leaders across data science, product management, design, research, and engineering organizations.

To ensure pay is fair and not impacted by biases, we're committed to looking at market value which is why we check ourselves and conduct a yearly pay equity audit.

For this role, the estimated base salary range is between $176,000 CAD - $224,000 CAD. The actual base salary will vary based on various factors, including market and individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process. The listed range above is a guideline, and the base salary range for this role may be modified.

In addition to base salary, your compensation package may include additional components such as equity, sales incentive pay (for most sales roles), and benefits.
