What You’ll Do:

Archer is seeking an experienced Safety and Security Leader to join our Support and Training Team in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.  Our team focuses on providing support for Archer Midnight Entry Into Service in the UAE in 2025. This is a “greenfield” project that will draw on industry best practices to create support methods and processes tailored for the operation of air taxis in urban air mobility networks.

The Head of Safety & Security will report to the Chief Operating Officer - Archer Air and will be part of a high-performing team which provides the technical field support for Archer products and services. In this role you are responsible for Archer’s security and safety organization in the UAE.  Safety is paramount in all aspects of Archer’s operation.  The Head of Safety and Security is responsible for compliance and conformance with regulatory and internal policies derived from GCAA and international standards.

Work Streams Include: 

Security Operations:

  • Serves as primary contact for security-related activities and communications.
  • Partners globally to ensure safety and security of operations.
  • Functions as the primary liaison with all levels of public law enforcement.
  • Oversees, and assists in, the process of analyzing actual and perceived threats against the Company and Company team members (when such conditions relate to the scope of their employment and assets).
  • Networks interdepartmentally and with business partners to instill and promote a security culture, in accordance with principles described in the Company's security policies.
  • Represents the Company on security matters dealing with applicable governmental agencies and professional organizations.

Compliance with Regulatory Requirements:

  • Interprets and applies security regulations, and provides guidance and support to all employees / crewmembers performing such tasks.
  • Drafts and upholds safety and security processes by which team members are expected to adhere 
  • Monitors the security program with regard to its effectiveness and compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Conducts internal audits and evaluations, analyzes data and generates reports to ensure compliance with expectations and standards.
  • Maintains proper documentation and records related to security and safety.

Training and Oversight of Security Staff:

  • Designs, develops and implements the security training program and curriculum, in accordance with applicable local and federal aviation regulations
  • Provides security related training to the Safety Department, Flight Operations, Station Operations, Technical Operations, IT, Dispatch and senior leadership, as applicable.
  • Interfaces with the Global training departments to continue to update the security training program in all phases and departments.
  • Maintains proper documentation and records related to staff training. 

Manage Security Budgets and Resources

  • Provides leadership, strategic direction, and guidance regarding: budget, staffing, training, equipment, communications, and other resources to achieve departmental and security goals.

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience, to include at least 5 years of management experience in aviation security, airport operations, or personnel security services.

Proven experience operating in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) market is a must.

Technical Skills:
Expertise in aviation security protocols including operations in secure and sterile areas in accordance with GCAA and international regulations. 

  • - Passenger Vetting and Secure Flight
  • - Passenger Departure and Arrival Plan
  • - Baggage handling

Analytical Skills:
Ability to analyze data to identify trends and make informed decisions regarding safety and security.

Communication Skills:
The ability to explain safety and security concepts clearly and concisely, and actively listen to users' questions and concerns.

Problem-solving:

The ability to accurately scope blocking issues and devise appropriate solutions.

Collaboration and teamwork:

Set a high standard of excellence across Global contributing business units. Exhibit positivity and optimism in the face of adversity.

Time management:

Ability to manage competing priorities in a project with very aggressive timelines. Adaptability and flexibility - Have the ability to change course as new information becomes available.  Remain focused on the objectives while resources and timelines are subject to change.

Legal and Work Eligibility Requirements

  • Proven experience operating in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) market
  • Ability to work legally in the UAE.
  • Familiarity with UAE labor laws and regulations is a plus.
  • Compliance with any specific regulatory or industry requirements applicable to the role.
