Role description:

The Arcadis TRANSIT-alerts/Realtime team is hiring a Software Developer. This team focuses on helping transit agencies provide high-quality real-time information to passengers and has a special emphasis on open data standards like GTFS and GTFS-Realtime. The TRANSIT-alerts system is used by transit agencies to manage and disseminate a region’s or agency’s service alerts (delays, cancellations, etc.) while the TRANSIT-Realtime system is used to manage and disseminate a region’s or agency’s real-time prediction and vehicle location data.

This position is part of a distributed team and can be remote from anywhere in the United States or Canada. Current team members are located in Seattle WA, Salt Lake City, UT, Toronto, ON and Kelowna, BC.

Role accountabilities:

In this role, you can expect to:

-Contribute to the full stack development of new features and bug fixes in TRANSIT-alerts and TRANSIT-realtime

-Work closely with product managers, data analysts, and the development team to design and implement new features

-Provide estimates of time needed to implement new features and bug fixes

-Keep the rest of the team updated on your work through updates in Jira tickets, Teams chats, and meetings

-Identify opportunities to improve our software development process

Qualifications & Experience:

-5+ years of experience with C#/.NET and Angular

-2+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server

-Experience with Git

-Experience with Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, and SQL Server Management Studio

-Experience learning an existing software product’s codebase

-Familiarity with and/or interest in public transit, including transit data

-Curiosity to understand how systems work and identify/solve problems

-Attention to detail and ability to balance priorities and multiple projects

-Willingness to learn independently but reach out for support/guidance as needed

It’s a bonus if you also have:

-Experience with GTFS or GTFS-realtime data

-Experience with GitHub Actions and branching, merging, and code review

-Experience with Playwright

-Experience with AWS
