Role description:
Arcadis is seeking a Senior Water Engineer / Hydraulic Modeler, to join our world-class firm in New York City, NY working on innovative climate adaptation projects within the New York City metropolitan area.
This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated and independent professional to join our team locally with support from one of the best qualified consulting firms in the country. In this position you will utilize your professional experience and technical knowledge of stormwater resiliency, wastewater collection and sewer systems modeling, and infrastructure design and construction, to execute projects and developing project pursuits within the local and regional municipal market of this office, to help build and grow our practice. This is a leadership position in an established group that is performing many high-profile modeling efforts within the NYC area.
Role accountabilities:
As a Senior Water Engineer / Hydraulic Modeler, performing engineering activities for climate adaptation, wastewater collection system and stormwater modeling, evaluations, investigations, planning, feasibility studies, design and construction will be a key part of your role. Work may also include flow monitoring review, drainage planning, resiliency analysis, interior flooding assessment, and stormwater management alternatives.
Assisting others with defining scope of work and objectives through research and fact-finding, combined with a strong understanding of business line and industry requirements you will ensure project compliance with all Arcadis’ practices and quality and safety standards.
By exercising independent judgment on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives, you will coordinate for timely completion and submission of project deliverables. This may include producing and reviewing technical reports. Role involves the leadership of technical work including guidance and QA/QC of work produced by a robust team of junior and mid-level staff delivering model-based analysis and drainage plans in the NYC metropolitan area.
Qualifications & Experience:

You are a technically capable with experience in design of water infrastructure projects and come to us with:
- Hydraulic modeling & engineering experience for evaluations, investigations, planning, feasibility studies and modeling (InfoWorks ICM experience preferred) of wastewater collection and stormwater systems and 2D flow routing and flooding.
- Experience with ArcGIS Pro, including the use of ModelBuilder and ArcPy for workflow and tool creation
- Experience with Ruby, Python, and/or .NET programming languages
Required Qualifications
- 8 years of experience in drainage planning and hydraulic modeling
- MS or PhD in Civil or Environmental Engineering
- Engineer in Training Certification (EIT) or ability to obtain within 1 year
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer licensed in the State of New York or ability to obtain within 1 year
- 12+ years of experience in hydraulic modeling, including experience in task or project management
- Product development experience, including the ability to manage the lifecycle of tool development from concept to deployment
- Strong documentation skills for maintaining clear and comprehensive technical documentation

Arcadis offers benefits for full time and part time positions. These benefits include medical, dental, and vision, EAP, 401K, STD, LTD, AD&D, life insurance, paid parental leave, reward & recognition program and optional benefits including wellbeing benefits, adoption assistance and tuition reimbursement. We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $125,000 - $175,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
