Responsibilities:
- Assist the Senior Project Manager to manage the project team to provide seamless deliverables, reduce risk, and manage change.
- Provide project support, information, and assistance on risks, change, costs, schedules, and quality on a large, complex high-risk project currently underway.
- Identify and manage project risks, knowing when to escalate. Recognize issues and understand remedies in advance.
- Provide project reports including reports on schedule, cost, stakeholder engagement, risk, quality, document control, actual vs. forecast, etc.
- Coordinate and manage document control activities, deliverables, and schedules, collaborating closely with Architectural & Engineering teams and outside consultants.
- Monitor quality management processes and ensure timely reviews while adhering to schedule constraints.
- Supervise assigned projects, ensuring effective teamwork and communication, high standards of work quality, and organizational performance.
- Coordinate with and support the team to execute on budget and on schedule without compromising quality.
- Monitor A&E project work to ensure project team adherence to Project Management processes, with additional focus on quality, budget, and schedule. Ensure the project is progressing by completing, assigning, and monitoring day-to-day tasks and providing updates to the Senior Manager.
- Proactively anticipate and identify client and project needs.
- Create, execute, and monitor detailed work plans/schedules to successfully deliver.
- Lead meetings to achieve executable outcomes.
- Create cost estimates for studies, design completion, and change.
- Create project management plans for new projects.
- Independently manage small to medium-sized projects.
- Review consultant contracts relative to scope, budget, schedule, and quality, relative to the Prime Agreements.
- Prepare Change Notices and Work Authorizations.
- Monitor and report on consultant adherence to contract terms.
- Manage project administration, including issuance of invoices, creation of work authorization, review of consultants’ contracts.
- Identify procedure and information gaps and develop recommendations for improvements and/or corrective action.
- Minute meetings effectively with action items, owners, deliverables, and deadlines noted.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant project management experience is required, coordinating, supporting, and facilitating innovative, medium to large-scale, complex architectural/engineering projects through all project phases (Planning, Design, and Construction Administration phases).
- A college diploma or university degree in Architecture, Engineering, Project Management, or an equivalent combination of education.
- Training and experience providing a sound knowledge of the engineering/architecture roles and responsibilities within a comprehensive team.
- Specific demonstrable change management experience.
- Solid understanding of architectural and engineering working drawings, and the interrelationship of the engineering and architectural disciplines.
- General construction knowledge.
- Demonstrable comprehensive understanding of project management and project controls.
- Demonstrated project management skills and experience managing multiple projects under pressure to meet schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
- Organizational skills to coordinate a multi-disciplinary team under pressure to meet schedule and budget.
- Ability to work in a digital environment across a multifaceted team that is not collocated.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced architectural/engineering environment, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach to address issues and facilitate project delivery.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work cooperatively with others in an interdisciplinary team and across functions and divisions.
- Ability to work in an office as required.
- Proficiency in project management software and applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, most specifically Excel, MS Project, Autodesk Construction Cloud/BIM 360. PowerPoint, Visio and Oracle are an asset.
- Solid familiarity with the PMI project management framework. PMI certification is a strong asset.
- Good understanding of project accounting.
- Experience conducting research, information analysis, and summarizing findings.
- Valid Ontario “G” Driver’s License in good standing is an asset.
- Travel to the United States may be required.
