Job Description
This role will reside within the roads and highways Ontario business unit. The reporting line will be a solid line to the roads and highways Ontario business unit leader with the dotted line to the growth Director. This position joins our Mobility Global Business Area (GBA). You will be responsible for running and building the firm's municipal roadway engineering practice. This is a senior role that will involve developing and implementing a strategic plan to expand the firm’s practice to deliver top-quality engineering projects to existing and new clients.
This role is a combination of technical leadership and operational management. In addition, you will also involve participating in management discussions of the firm and direction of the firm.
Day to day activities within this role will involve hiring of staff and managers, leading and mentoring of staff, visiting multiple Arcadis offices to work with various teams, management of the team, and coordination with other teams within Arcadis. Business development will be a big part of the role including client relationship management, marketing, proposals both leading, writing, and reviewing/approving.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- To take a Principal role in projects, providing leadership, technical advice and overview as required
- To provide consultancy services for projects and be able to develop solutions that fall outside the standard codes
- To build professional profile and reputation, at an area level within the industry and within Arcadis
- To manage the delivery of specialised components of projects and establish the most effective team to achieve this
- To manage technical risk mitigation, safety, and value in design processes
- To develop and deliver integrated design programmes and key performance milestones and reports at all stages
- To assist in the technical development of staff, coaching and mentoring on technical issues
- To establish and consolidate relationships with clients, both during and after project completion
- To use technical knowledge to identify and realise new client opportunities
- To provide technical input into the bidding process
This position also includes a hatted responsibility as the Market Sector Leader, Municipalities, ON. This is a strategic leadership position responsible for driving growth, overseeing business development initiatives, and providing subject matter expertise in the transportation sector. This role resides within the Mobility Business Area and involves developing and executing market strategies, building client relationships, and leading a team to deliver innovative and integrated data-based transport solutions to expand Arcadis’ Mobility market sector. These core services include capital project planning, design, project and construction management and enterprise asset management.
The successful candidate will provide visionary leadership to align business goals with industry trends and emerging opportunities and applying new technologies into transport planning and design. You will also drive the strategy to expand Arcadis’s presence in the transport market and connect with new clients to build on our success in the delivery of large capital projects. Additionally you will expand Arcadis’s services with existing clients by leveraging Arcadis’s global and cross-GBA expertise and talent across all areas of project planning, design, and delivery.

- Engage Arcadis’s Intelligence GBA and tailor innovative data-led solutions; new technologies, services, and products to improve clients’ productivity and overall business performance.
- deliver sustainable solutions that exceed client expectations.
- encourage adaptation and application of innovative solutions and products.
- ensure high client satisfaction and repeat business.
- Lead and support key account managers of Arcadis’s Mobility clients in Canada.
- Collaborate with other sector leaders and business areas for cross-functional initiatives.
- Collaborate with Arcadis’s global solution leaders and global peers within the UK, Australia, Netherlands, Germany, France, and Belgium.
- Use market intelligence to inform decision-making and develop strategies for maintaining a competitive edge.
You will have excellent working relationships with and access to peers in the transportation industry, with deep understanding of this dynamic industry in North America
Qualifications
- 15 + years consulting experience on projects of significant scale and/or complexity
- P.Eng Ontario
- Demonstrated technical, commercial and delivery acumen
