Data Science Intern

What are you going to do?

As a Data Scientist Intern at Arcadis, you will play a supporting role in executing and delivering data science/machine learning-based projects together with the team. The job primarily involves assisting with reporting, responsible use of AI, generative AI, machine learning (ML) modeling, management, problem analysis, data exploration and preparation, data collection, and integration.

Your Responsibilities

As a Data Scientist Intern, your primary responsibilities are as follows:  

• Data exploration and preparation. Clean data, apply statistical and visualization techniques, generate hypotheses, test, and create value or insights for the business. 
• Machine learning. Apply various ML techniques to perform diverse classifications and prediction tasks. Integrate domain knowledge with ML solutions. Share the knowledge with the senior management and create value or insights for the business. 
• Operations & Infrastructure: Collaborate with agile teams such as ML operations (MLOps), data engineers, and IT (Information Technology) departments to support state of the art solution development and deployment.
• Communication & Reporting: Communicate findings to stakeholders, produce clear reports, and ensure project outputs align with business objectives.
• Upskill yourself: Taking courses and collaborating with specialized teams across the globe.
• Promote collaboration with other data science teams and the community of practice. 

What do we ask?

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, data science, applied mathematics, or a related quantitative field - with an interest in ML, AI, cognitive science, or data science.
• Basic knowledge of programming languages: Python/R and SQL.
• Basic knowledge of cloud storage, ETL (Extract, Transform, and Loading), processing, and machine learning products, preferably in Azure.
• Exposure to learning algorithms: neuronal networks, generative pretrained transformers, generalized linear model (GLM)/regression, classification, boosting, trees, text mining, clustering, deep learning, dimensionality reduction, graph analysis, etc.
• Must be curious, creative, and demonstrate the ability to work in diverse, cross-functional teams in a dynamic business environment.
• Should be confident, energetic self-starters, and have communication skills.
• Should exhibit presentation skills, including storytelling and other techniques to guide and inspire.
• Should exhibit a strong business sense/acumen and be driven to business success.
