System Administrator for a Computing Qualification (Testing) Engineer

We are looking for a highly experienced System Administrator for a position of Computing Qualification (testing) Engineer, to join a team of Computing development and testing as part of the Computing R&D department.

The Computing R&D department is responsible for the selection, development and qualification, and long term maintenance of the computing solutions required for the different products of Applied Materials Israel.

What you'll be doing:

As part of product development life cycle, we develop and qualify new computing solutions including computers, networking, storage and firewalls to meet the product/customer needs and product specifications. This includes learning the system topology & design and performing tests on lab setups and on real tools, creating and presenting test plans and test reports/results.

For this position we are looking for an experienced system administrator, with 5-8 years of experience, in the worlds of Windows and Linux, both on HW and virtual machines.

We are Agile in nature and using Atlassian tools (Jira & Confluence), and rapidly adopting AI (mainly Claude). Part of the technical work is done with known tools i.e. WireShark, iPerf, BurnIn etc. We aim at taking any system to its limits, test edge case scenarios and confirm we provide bullet proof products.

The perfect candidate should have:

• Must:
  • B.Sc. / B.A degree in a relevant field (i.e. computer science, computer engineering, information systems etc).
  • Experience as System Administrator, computing and networking hands-on experience (actual HW, not cloud), both Win and Linux, or experience as a Test Engineer from a company developing products running on HW, coming with actual experience in building and maintaining test environments (not SW QA roles).
  • Relevant experience with both Windows and Linux administration and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of relevant test tools i.e. WireShark, BurnIn, iPerf.
• Advantage:
  • Any of following relevant certifications - CCNA, CCNP, MCSE.
  • PowerShell coding knowledge, Linux coding (Bash, Ansible etc).
  • Networking QA / System Validation & testing experience (test plan creation & execution)
  • Experience with computing HW - RAID, Bios, GPU etc.
