AppleCare is looking for a dynamic and motivated individual for the position of Data Scientist as part of the Demand Planning team. This role is an opportunity for a self-driven team player to utilize their analytical skills, business acumen, influencing skills, and project management skills in supporting the Demand Planning team to deliver timely and relevant demand forecasts. The successful candidate will be a creative problem solver is who is passionate about building, maintaining, and driving innovative solutions to deliver outstanding customer service.

Responsibilities may include, but is not limited, to following Owner of monthly statistical forecast models and forecast creation for selected LOBs including main commodities. Breakdown of churn drivers for both long and short term forecast changes. Research, development and implementation of the most innovative and intuitive technical solutions for forecasting and demand planning day-to-day system (SAP APO) and cross-functional (DP, Supply Planning (SP), Refurb Planning, IS&T, Service Quality Engineering (SQE) and AppleCare Business Insight Ops & Sys) (ACBIOS)) process challenges. Identify and investigate new opportunities to increase efficiency of AppleCare material supply chain through research studies using mathematical modeling and simulation. Continually improve forecast accuracy measured by KPIs by using state-of-the-art statistical methods. Develop necessary tools and methods to support new product introductions, end-of-life forecast and repair extension programs for all lines of businesses using programming languages such as Python, R, SAS and VBA. Serve as database administrator of internal data servers (Teradata, Oracle and MySQL) and automate data pipelines to internal tools and Tableau dashboards that serve as analytical as well as communication portals across the organization. Responsible for database setup, configuration and management cloud data pipeline integration, big data governance, data security, and for connecting users with self-service access, and responsible to use Database clustering tools and techniques to analyze performance and help others to optimize data queries. Partner with subject matter experts of artificial intelligence and machine learning (natural language processing) to explore the possible application of AI/ML/NLP in AppleCare supply chain management, especially with respect to anomaly detection, pattern detection and knowledge discovery. Create new reports and dashboards using Tableau. Maintain and refine existing planning and process toolkits and reporting portals. Contribute to building internal knowledge base on best practices in statistics and research methodology. Conduct periodic research to stay updated on the latest quantitative approaches and forecasting techniques. Collaborate with IS&T to clean and verify the integrity of demand and forecast data. .

Masters or PhD in Mathematics, Computer Science, Applied Statistics and Economics or Machine Learning. Strong background in statistics and data mining, strong working knowledge of data science algorithms. Understands and masters general forecasting techniques such as Time Series Analysis and Projection (Moving Average, Exponential Smoothing, Trend Projection, etc.), Causal Models (Regression Model, Life Cycle Analysis, Leading Indicator, etc.) and Qualitative Techniques. Strong working knowledge of database structures and data warehousing principles, and has strong programming skills in SQL, Python, SAS and/or R, and has experience with Teradata. Strong writing, visualization and communication skills and ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise and actionable manner to peers, management and executives.

Highly analytical, detail oriented and self motivated individual who has real passion for empirical research and answering hard questions with data; ability to conceptualize, promote and implement new ideas for AppleCare Service forecasting and planning. High level of professionalism and sense of urgency in order to resolve issues, and drive and deliver projects in timely manner. Great team player with a positive attitude. Has high level of integrity. Ability to network broadly across the organization and drive collaboration.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $165,500 and $248,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
