About You

You are a senior backend engineer who thrives in designing and building scalable, reliable systems within complex environments. You take ownership of backend services, APIs, and integrations, ensuring they are robust, maintainable, and aligned with real business needs.

You bring strong hands-on experience with Node.js and Python, and you are comfortable working across distributed systems and cloud environments. You approach problems with a solution-oriented mindset, balancing technical excellence with practical delivery.

You also have experience implementing AI-driven solutions in real-world scenarios. Whether integrating LLMs, building AI-powered features, or working with data-driven models, you understand how to leverage AI to enhance product capabilities and solve meaningful problems.

You Bring to Applaudo the Following Competencies:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of experience in software development with a strong backend focus (Node.js and Python).
• Strong experience with Node.js (NestJS or similar frameworks).
• Strong experience with Python (FastAPI or similar frameworks).
• Proven experience designing and building RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Hands-on experience working with cloud environments (Azure preferred; not only exposure).
• Experience working with distributed systems, microservices, or modular architectures.
• Solid understanding of asynchronous processing and backend data flows.
• Experience debugging, troubleshooting, and optimizing performance in production-like environments.
• Solid understanding of backend security, authentication, and SSL.
• Experience working with integrations and complex business logic.
• Familiarity with testing practices, version control (Git), and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
• Ability to explain technical decisions and trade-offs clearly.
• Strong sense of ownership and accountability for delivered solutions.
• Working experience with frontend technologies (React / Next.js).
• Hands-on experience implementing AI-based solutions in real projects (e.g., LLM integrations, AI-powered features, or data-driven models).
• Advanced English proficiency is required, as you will work directly with US-based clients.

You Will Be Accountable for the Following Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Node.js and Python.
• Design and implement scalable and reliable RESTful APIs.
• Own backend solutions from design to delivery, ensuring quality and performance.
• Implement and maintain business logic aligned with complex system requirements.
• Integrate backend services with internal and external systems.
• Work with Azure cloud services for deployments, integrations, and backend solutions.
• Identify and resolve performance, scalability, and reliability issues.
• Apply best practices in authentication, authorization, and backend security.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers to ensure seamless system integration.
• Participate in technical discussions, proposing solutions and improvements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across different environments.
• Contribute to improving backend architecture and development practices.
• Design and implement AI-driven features or integrations as part of backend solutions when applicable.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in backend development
• Strong experience with Node.js and Python
• Proven experience building RESTful APIs
• Hands-on experience with cloud environments (Azure preferred)
• Experience implementing AI-based solutions (LLMs or similar)
