Who we are:

Apella is applying computer vision, machine learning and NLP to improve the standard of care in the most critical aspect of healthcare; surgery. We build applications to enable surgeons, nurses, and hospital administrators to deliver the highest quality care. We are looking for an experienced full-stack software engineer to join our team and work across our mobile, web and backend platforms. We need brave people who are not afraid to jump in and work on unfamiliar systems and improve them. Our software engineers work with product managers and designers to specify our applications and backend systems.

Our software engineers are comfortable dealing with loose specifications and are involved in of the product process from cradle to adulthood.

The Role:

You are an engineer who likes diversity in your daily work, taking on work from any point in the stack. You are an integrative thinker who likes to bridge infrastructure, backend and frontend code as a foundation to building great products. You enjoy working with designers and product managers to help craft innovative user experiences.

What you bring:

    • 5+ years experience writing readable, tested, efficient code
    • A strong belief in craft and the quality of your work product
    • Experience with functional and reactive programming paradigms
    • Good design intuition and empathy for people using products you work on
    • Ability to contribute to the dialog about how systems are designed and built

What is also nice:

    • Experience working in healthcare or another regulated industry
    • Familiarity developing SaaS products for a business customer

What you will do:

    • You will work with the product team, including commercial, design and product managers to help define the product suite we sell to medical professionals and hospital administrators
    • Work cross-functionally with other engineering team members to specify the infrastructure, databases and APIs necessary to build our products
    • Build modern, responsive applications in React for our customers and help raise the bar for user experience in the healthcare workplace
