Software Engineer Intern (Summer 2027)
Location: Torrance
Department: Engineering
Location Type: IN_OFFICE
Employment Type: FULL_TIME
About Andrenam
We’re building sonar and sensing systems that bring light to the last dark domain: the ocean. Our team includes alumni from SpaceX, Anduril, ABL, Palantir and Qualia. We build full-stack—from physics to perception to product—with speed, elegance, and an unwavering commitment to the mission.
We believe the maritime domain will define the next century of economics, geopolitics, and global security. We're here to shape it.
About this role
Andrenam is seeking a Software Engineer Intern to join our software team and help build the platform that brings our ocean data to life. Our main engineering challenge is a real-time data platform that ingests, processes, stores, and displays data from our sensors in the field. This is a hands-on internship focused on full-stack development, from the pipelines that move sensor data to the interfaces people use to see it and act on it.
You won't be sitting on the sidelines. You'll take on a real, scoped project that supports our core platform, work directly alongside the engineers who build it, and get regular feedback and mentorship as you go. You'll get real experience building software that handles a wide variety of sensors, hardware interfaces, and data sources, with the security and robustness defense work demands.
We're looking for students who are hungry to learn, love building things, and want to see their code used by real people running real systems.
What you’ll do
Full-Stack Development:
- Build and ship software features across our stack, with guidance from the team.
- Own a scoped project tied to the team's priorities at the time of your internship.
- Participate in code reviews and follow team practices for testing and version control.
Integration and Troubleshooting:
- Work with our hardware and autonomy engineers to connect software with the systems we deploy in the field.
- Help build tools that speed up testing and development of our software.
- Troubleshoot issues and work with the team to understand root cause and fixes.
Collaboration and Growth:
- Work closely with our engineers, taking feedback and iterating quickly.
- Share progress clearly and ask questions early.
- Document your code and decisions so the team can build on your work after your internship.
