Senior Network Engineer

We seek an energetic Senior Network Engineer who can lead and offer direction on network architecture and design within a global cloud service provider. This role involves supervising and assuming responsibility for maintaining and operating various network components and prioritizing creating smart, scalable, and easy-to-maintain automated solutions.

The ideal candidate is experienced working in a large-scale enterprise or global cloud service provider network, with an expert-level knowledge of networking principles and an understanding of networking in AWS. They should also be comfortable working in a Linux environment and proficient at network automation and using configuration management and automation tools such as Git and Ansible. As someone who lives and breathes networking, they will possess a good awareness of the network and communications ecosystem and emerging technologies.

Anaplan is growing at a rapid rate, and the new member of the Network team will play an instrumental role in exciting network projects that enable the network to scale with us. Some of the projects you will help with include developing the Anaplan private-cloud network architecture, new DC builds, implementation of a unified automation framework based on infrastructure-as-code principals, and the global expansion of our cloud networks.

This role requires you to be in the Washington, D.C., area. 

Your Impact: 

• Be a technical subject-matter expert and point of escalation within the Network team.
• Collaborate with and support Architecture and Engineering teams to define network requirements to achieve organizational objectives.
• Deploy, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize network infrastructure.
• Collaborate with external vendors and partners to maintain and continue to improve the network.
• Always look to create efficiencies through the implementation of scalable and intelligent network automation solutions.
• Participate in on-call rotations.

Your Qualifications: 

• At least 5+ years of experience working with a large-scale enterprise network or cloud service provider network.
• Strong knowledge of and working experience with network routing, switching, and firewalling.
• Experience with modern data center network topologies such as spine-and-leaf and overlay networks.
• Expertise in advanced networking principals and concepts, including in-depth knowledge of common protocols such as Ethernet, IP (v4 and v6), TCP, UDP, DNS, IPsec, BGP, VXLAN, EVPN, and HTTPS.
• Strong proficiency in network security and experience working with Palo Alto firewalls.
• Good understanding of AWS cloud environments (Direct connect, transit gateway, VPCs, gateway, etc.).
• Hands-on experience with observability tools like LogicMonitor.
• Experience with VPN technologies.
• Network Virtualization like VRFs, VXLAN
• Ability to perform in-depth analysis of network performance and application issues using standard diagnostics tools.
• Occasional travel to DC for network Installs when required.

Desirable: 

• Experience working in a large-scale multinational Managed Service Provider, Enterprise, or Hyper-scaler.
• Experience using and integrating DCIM & IPAM applications, such as Device42, Infoblox, etc, with automation frameworks.
• Knowledge of DC networking technologies such as MLAG, Stacking
• Experience with cloud providers such as Google Cloud and Azure.
• CCNP, JNCIP-DC, Arista ACE: L3, or similar certification.
• Working knowledge of automation frameworks such as Ansible, Puppet, or Terraform.
• Proficient in working with Linux operating systems.
• Skilled in scripting (Python or Shell) and familiar with CI/CD practices. 
• Understand concepts of Infrastructure-as-Code/Software
