Job Description: Senior Field Applications Engineer focusing on Software
Reports To: Field Technical Leader EMEA as part of EMEA Sales Team
Direct Reports: None
Location: Munich, Hybrid, or Remote (in-office presence required for the first 6 months)
Role Definition
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Field Applications Engineer with a focus on software to support our strategic and key accounts in EMEA. As a Senior FAE, you serve as the vital link between Analog Devices' product development teams and our customers, driving new business opportunities through in-depth design and development support. You will play a key role in developing Proof of Concept (PoC) demos, solving customer challenges, and integrating ADI solutions into complex systems.
You will collaborate with customers and internal teams to elevate technical discussions to the system level while ensuring process adherence and contributing to the creation of new processes where necessary. This role demands a unique combination of technical expertise, interpersonal skills, business acumen, and proactive thinking.
Key Responsibilities
Understand customer needs and propose innovative solutions by leveraging ADI's portfolio.
Build, present, and document Proof of Concept demos showcasing ADI’s system-level expertise.
Drive customer engagement by integrating software and hardware systems to address challenges.
Facilitate communication between customers and internal Business Units to align requirements and resources.
Participate in system integration and debugging activities, ensuring software and hardware alignment.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with customers, gaining their trust and commitment.
Act as a technical advisor to engineering teams, assisting in technology proposal and evaluation stages.
Travel to customer sites (up to 50%) for on-site support, technical discussions, and relationship building.
Adhere to and contribute to the improvement of existing workflows and processes.
Qualifications and required skills
Education: Master’s Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
Experience: Minimum 6 years in embedded software development.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in C, C++, Python, and familiarity with modern Realtime OS’s.
Hands-on experience with processors and microcontrollers.
Strong knowledge of communication protocols (e.g. I2C, SPI, UART, and Ethernet).
Proficiency in debugging tools (JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers) and version control systems.
System-level expertise in integrating software with hardware platforms.
Soft Skills:
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage customer interactions with diplomacy and strategic thinking.
Self-motivated with a proactive and curious mindset.
Team player with strong collaboration and organizational skills.
Language Skills: Full working proficiency in English and German. Additional languages are a plus.
Other:
Valid driver’s license.
Willingness to travel extensively.
Additional skills (Good to have, not mandatory)
Knowledge of machine learning, security, and data acquisition systems.
Understanding of the AUTOSAR stack.
Experience in customer project management in semiconductor or automotive industries.
Background in creating software for middleware and data analysis.
Hands-on experience in designing and developing web applications, including expertise in web technologies such as PHP, HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.
Practical experience in designing and implementing intuitive and visually appealing graphical user interfaces (GUI).
