Electrical Engineer
Team: Engineering
Location: Henderson, Nevada
Commitment: Full-time
Workplace Type: onsite
Salary:
We are seeking a hands-on, well-rounded Electrical Engineer to support the development of next-generation hybrid power generation and energy systems. This role contributes across the full product-development cycle, from requirements and electrical architecture through component selection, schematic and harness design, prototype build, system integration, testing, troubleshooting, and production support.
The ideal candidate has experience developing automotive, off-highway, mobile-equipment, or industrial electrical systems. Experience with power generation, energy storage, high-voltage batteries, power electronics, or hybrid/electric systems is strongly preferred. This position works closely with mechanical, controls/software, manufacturing, sourcing, suppliers, and test teams to turn system requirements into reliable, serviceable products.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Develop and refine low-voltage and high-voltage electrical architectures, including power distribution, grounding and bonding, circuit protection, controls, I/O, and communications.
- Create and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, harness drawings, connector pinouts, interface-control documentation, and bills of material.
- Select and specify electrical components such as batteries, inverters and motor drives, generators/alternators, DC/DC converters, contactors, relays, fuses, sensors, connectors, cables, and system controllers.
- Perform engineering calculations and design checks for conductor sizing, voltage drop, overcurrent protection, power and energy balance, thermal loading, precharge, and component derating.
- Integrate electrical and electronic subsystems into prototypes and production-intent equipment, including CAN/J1939-connected devices and embedded controllers.
- Support hands-on prototype assembly, electrical bring-up, commissioning, and safe testing of low-voltage, high-voltage DC, and three-phase AC systems.
- Develop and execute verification test plans; collect and analyze data to validate system performance, interfaces, controls, protection functions, and fault response.
- Troubleshoot system-level issues using multimeters, oscilloscopes, insulation testers, power analyzers, CAN tools, data loggers, and related laboratory equipment.
- Lead root-cause investigations involving power distribution, controls, communications, sensors, harnesses, grounding, and component interactions, then implement and verify corrective actions.
- Provide engineering support for field issues, manufacturing builds, commissioning, and product improvements as needed.
- Maintain accurate design records and released documentation through revision control and engineering change processes.
- Participate in system and design reviews with mechanical, controls/software, manufacturing, service, and supply-chain teams.
- Work directly with suppliers to define requirements, resolve technical issues, evaluate component alternatives, and support product availability and cost targets.
- Translate test results, field feedback, and lessons learned into improved designs, specifications, work instructions, and validation methods.
- Manage Compliance/Certification projects, interfacing with 3rd party test labs to provide documentation, complete testing, and ensure timely project completion.
- Support pre-compliance testing, technical documentation, certification activities, and corrective actions in coordination with internal stakeholders and external laboratories.
- Other duties as assigned
