Global Loyalty & Benefits is in the middle of an exciting transformation journey, and we need talented engineers who are willing to learn, collaborate, innovate, and adapt to emerging trends and customer demands.  Our Loyalty platforms enable many of Amex’s most critical customer differentiators including the flagship Amex Offers, Membership Rewards program, and we are constantly seeking new ways to offer value to our customers and drive growth for the company.
We are looking for an innovative, experienced, and talented senior software engineer to join our Offers domain team where you will be responsible for developing Enterprise Grade engineering solutions to support the unprecedented growth seen in area. You will work closely with our product and development teams to develop qualification related processes that are highly scalable and fault-tolerant.

 Responsibilities:

• Lead a scrum team of engineers to design and develop highly scalable and robust engineering solutions in Amex Offers team.
• Build POCs to experiment new technologies, data bases and other open-source products to build low latency distributed systems.
• Embrace a culture of innovation and experimentation, engage in fun and outcome-oriented culture, and always be ready to try new concepts without fear of failure.
• Writing code and unit tests, working on API specs, automation, and conducting code reviews and testing, and documenting processes.
• Performing ongoing refactoring of code, utilizing visualization and other techniques to fast-track concepts, and delivering continuous improvement. 
• Experience in end-to-end architecture, performance tuning, optimization, re-engineering, and technology infrastructure (TI) cost reduction of complex applications.
• Working with product managers to prioritize features for ongoing sprints and managing a list of technical requirements based on industry trends, new technologies, known defects, and issues. 

Qualifications:

• 7-10 years of software development experience, and preferably a BS or MS degree in computer science, computer engineering, or other technical discipline. 
• Team player and a hands-on engineer.
• Experience mentoring and coaching junior engineers.
• Experience in designing and implementing highly scalable, low latency Java / Go based applications.
• Hands on experience in multi-threading programming.
• Basic high availability techniques and implementation knowledge.
• Practical knowledge of caching and distributed systems.
• Hands on experience in designing, building, and implementing Mainframe real-time and batch applications is a plus.
• Staying in touch with industry standards and current technologies is expected.
• Experience in profiling / performance analysis of applications.
• Core competencies in distributed technologies including Java, Spring, APIs (REST), JSON, XML, Kafka, JDBC, DB2/Oracle, PostGres, NoSQL databases, Spring Boot, Spring Batch, JUnit, Jenkins, and Maven.
• 4+ years of working experience with In-memory computing solutions is a big plus.
• Hands on experience in Big Data technologies including Python, Hadoop, and Spark.
• Additional core technical competencies that would be beneficial to have: Mainframe technologies including Cobol, JCL, SyncSort, REXX, CICS,IMS DB/DC, Strobe, Topaz/ISPW, Changeman, Control-M, Jobtrac, File-Aid, Xpediter, IBM MQ, and BMC Utilities.
• Commitment to software practices of continuous Integration, automated/repeatable testing, and collaborative work environments.
• Knowledge of Amex Offers and Qualification processes is a plus.
• Ability to think abstractly and deal with ambiguous/under-defined problems.
• Ability to enable business capabilities through innovation.
• Demonstrated willingness to learn new technologies and takes pride in how fast they develop working software.
• Experience working with streaming solutions is highly desirable (preferably Apache Kafka and Kafka Streams).
• Hands on experience in the full stack software development is desirable.
• Have excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• Create and deliver effective presentations to Senior Leadership
