American Express is seeking an experienced professional to join the Global Payment Network (GPN) Organization within the Global Merchant & Network Operations (GMNSO) Team as a Sr Engineer II.  The Teams responsibilities include support of many functions with the core functions relating to the real time flow of authorizations, connectivity and file transfers globally. The GMNSO Team is an End-to-End team that supports Merchants, Third Party Processors (TPPs) and Global Network Service (GNS) Partners and acts as an interface between Internal/External technical support teams as well as key Technology and Business Teams.

Responsibilities (may include but are not limited to):

  • Responsible for managing and driving complex issues involving some or all of the following areas: Authorization, File Transfer, GNS applications, Partner onboarding, and certificate management.
  • End-to-end ownership of incidents, driving resolution across Amex technical teams in conjunction with external Partners and Merchants.
  • Identify Non-Functional Requirements, Observability Improvements and utilize end-to-end Subject Matter Expertise to drive development and deployment of features to improve system resiliency and availability.
  • This position will be responsible for ensuring the communication of issues and solutions to all levels of Leadership (Internal & External), business partners and technical support.
  • The ability to adapt to ever-changing process requirements and tools.
  • Act in a production support role which may include highlighting issues, researching cause/effect/RCA, and solutioning opportunities for improvement or control.
  • In-depth knowledge and support of established processing requirements.
  • Proficiency in using multiple systems, tools and platforms to support all regions including U.S., Canada, Latin America, EMEA and JAPA.
  • Monitor, document and track daily processing in accordance with established SLAs.
  • Identify, escalate and actively work with Teams throughout the company to support resolution of issues - Leadership- Demonstrate increased self-reliance to achieve team goals
  • Influence Team members with creative changes and improvements by challenging status quo and demonstrating risk taking.
  • Accountable to customers (internal and external) to partner closely to resolve technical issues
  • Accountable to team for completing assigned tasks and deliverables as agreed upon
  • Accountable to team for delivery of quality work

Qualifications:

  • Preferred degree in Computer Science, Network, Finance or related field
  • Preferred 8-12 years of applicable experience.
  • The successful candidate must have strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize urgent tasks, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment under minimal supervision within the framework of a team.
  • The successful candidate is expected to take the lead in resolving BAU processing requirements.  To accomplish this, the candidate must have demonstrated proficiency in the major systems and processes we support: Transaction Authorizations, NeMo, GAN/GIG, Network, Clearing and Settlement, SPLUNK, CAS, ServiceNow, and SFT.
  • The candidate needs strong people relationship skills and the ability to influence without authority.
  • The candidate must have demonstrated analytical skills, troubleshooting, and the ability to quickly grasp process/data/accounting/transaction flows and understand downstream effects. 
  • The candidate will be a resource for incident solutioning and will be effective in providing root cause analysis to support the reduction of repetitive incident creation.
  • Ability to demonstrate professional and courteous oral and written communication skills is required.
  • Excellent soft skills including: Listening, Self-Control, Positivity, Assertiveness, Conflict Resolution, Empathy, Depersonalization & Taking Responsibility
  • Experience with business processes or operations around authorizations & file transfers

Salary Range: $110,000.00 to $190,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
