The Engineer role will be responsible for the delivery of Network Automation Initiatives globally within American Express. It will play an integral role for the engineering and delivery of new network automation and responsible for the management of network automation infrastructure and systems. 

 Job Responsibilities: 

• Automate manual network provisioning requests to optimize and improve customer experience.
• Provides architectural governance, reviewing projects to ensure alignment to architectural standards and technical strategy. 
• Manages (monitors and addresses) third parties to ensure quality delivery and adherence to standards. 

 Qualifications:

Required Skills:

• 5+ years of experience in software development or programming experience
• Object-oriented programming skills (Python, Django, JAVA, J2EE)
• Web design & development – Hands on experience in UI technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, ReactJS & etc.
• Development of web services and an understanding of APIs (REST and SOAP with XML or JSON)
• Good knowledge in source control tools like Subversion, Git, bitbucket, GitHub
• Strong expertise on DevOps concepts like Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous delivery (CD) and Infrastructure as Code, Cloud deployments.
• Conceptualize, architect, and build a containerized infrastructure using Docker, Kubernetes, or similar SaaS platforms.
• Experience or knowledge of network services is a plus (Cisco switches, load balancers, firewalls, etc.)
• Database development experience (SQL, MongoDB, etc.)
• Strong knowledge of protocols like TCP/IP, SNMP, Netconf
• Must be willing to learn new technologies while being able to adapt to a fast-paced service driven environment. 
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with ability to communicate to all levels of peers, customers, and leadership.

 Preferred Additional Skills:

• Good Understanding of IaaS, PaaS concepts and infrastructure provisioning methodologies.
• Good understanding of SDN and NFV concepts

 Education Requirement:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in the field of networking.
