The U.S. Consumer Services and Enterprise Digital & Data Technology Team brings together foundational strategic technology capabilities in digital experience engineering (Mobile and Web), AI/ML, marketing technology, enterprise communications, travel and lifestyle, and automation, grounded in our data technology model that prioritizes data governance. It employs a ground-breaking focus with development responsibilities for customer-facing capabilities that deepen and expand digital engagement, as well as core technical capabilities that cut across business lines and customer segments.

Lounge Services is part of the Amex's Membership Services team. We make membership an indisputable competitive advantage by being part of the Card Members digital's journey to find, access and experience lounges. We are looking for a talented and experienced NodeJS backend engineer to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and efficient backend systems that power our applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in backend development, solid understanding of distributed systems, and experience with cloud technologies.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services and APIs.
• Collaborate with multi-functional teams to gather requirements, architect solutions, and implement features that meet business needs.
• Implement best practices for code quality, testing, and deployment automation.
• Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and mentor junior engineers to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating new tools and frameworks to improve efficiency and productivity.
• Work closely with DevOps teams to deploy and manage backend services in cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Collaborate with frontend engineers to define API contracts and ensure seamless integration between frontend and backend systems.
• Communicate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and management to provide project updates, status reports, and technical recommendations.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in backend development, with a strong proficiency in NodeJS.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems architecture, microservices, and RESTful API design principles.
• Experience with cloud platforms and services and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical challenges and propose effective solutions.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multi-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Proven track record of delivering scalable and reliable backend solutions in a fast-paced, Agile/Scrum environment.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities, multitask effectively, and thrive in a dynamic, collaborative work environment.

Salary Range: $85,000.00 to $150,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
