THE ROLE:  AMD’s SW Ecosystem Security Engineering Team is seeking a System Design Engineer to help deliver Confidential Compute Solution stacks enabled by AMD’s Secure Encrypted Virtualization (SEV) capabilities. In this role, you will contribute to the development and testing of software in Rust and Go that supports AMD confidential compute features in community projects such as kata containers, confidential containers, and VirTEE. You will assist in implementing and testing attestation and certification functions for Linux and Microsoft Windows host and guest operating systems. This position offers the opportunity to learn about virtualization, security, and confidential computing, while collaborating with senior engineers and engaging with open-source communities.   THE PERSON:  A motivated and enthusiastic engineer with a strong interest in security and system design, eager to contribute to the development and delivery of secure architectures. This role offers the opportunity to help optimize and demonstrate the capabilities of AMD products through software development, while supporting the advancement of next-generation solutions.   KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:  The focus of this role is to develop code and tests that enable AMD confidential computing features in community projects such as VirTEE, Trustee, Kata Containers, and Confidential Containers (CoCo). Key Areas of Focus: Assist in enabling Secure Encrypted Virtualization (SEV) features in container runtimes, including confidential containers and kata containers. Contribute to internal and external continuous integration (CI) projects by developing and maintaining tests for AMD confidential computing features as well as debugging issues related to the same. Help debug issues within the confidential compute software stack. Participate in enabling SEV features in attestation tools such as VirTEE and third-party attestation services.   PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:  Experience developing software in Rust or C/C++, Bash scripting, and Go. Familiarity with Linux and virtualization technologies such as QEMU and KVM. Exposure to the software development lifecycle, including coding, testing, and debugging. Basic understanding of operating system kernels, virtualization, and security concepts. Some experience contributing code to open-source projects or collaborating with open-source communities. Ability to work with ISVs and software partners to support software development efforts. Foundational knowledge of x86 computing architecture.
