AMD together we advance_ THE ROLE: We are looking for an adaptive, self-motivated expert systems engineer to join our growing AI Special Projects team. As a technical leader, you’ll collaborate across internal teams, leveraging your expertise to explore opportunities to improve new and existing products. As part of this role, you will be responsible for performance analysis, benchmarking, and profiling AI applications within the EPYC CPU and Instinct GPU ecosystem. THE PERSON: You're a collaborative engineer with a strong background in accelerated computing, problem solving and exceptional communication skills. You bring a strong desire to quickly learn new technologies and provide recommendations to improve products and features. You are comfortable sharing your knowledge with a variety of stakeholders & ultimately conveying the value of AMD's technology. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Technical lead for the AI/ML segment, focusing on AI frameworks, models for CPU- and GPU-based platforms Perform software development and profiling guided software optimization & tuning for various AI/ML software stacks Provide guidance to performance and test engineers on methodologies & runtime configurations for AMD EPYC, Instinct and competitive server platforms Analyze performance data, provide feedback and interact with partners, ISVs and customers to showcase the performance & overall value-proposition of AMD EPYC and Instinct based systems Work closely with other team members to understand design architecture and to propose solutions to improve and enhance products PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Academic achievement through PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, AI/ML or Computational Science Strong knowledge of AI frameworks (i.e. PyTorch), LLMs and classical ML algorithms Experience with C++, HIP or CUDA and OpenCL CPU/GPU software optimization, profiling, and tuning Experience with leading HPC leadership clusters Ability to work independently in a fast paced, deadline driven environment; effective communication skills and teamwork ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Computational Science, or a closely related field #LI-MM2 At AMD, your base pay is one part of your total rewards package.
