ADVANCE YOUR CAREER. ADVANCE THE WORLD.

At AMD, we believe technology can change lives for the better. It can heal us, entertain us, and make us more connected, productive, and understanding of the world around us. And we’re looking for talent who feel the same: people who want to leave the planet better than they found it, those who don’t shy away from humanity’s challenges but are determined to help solve them.

AMD is powering the next generation of supercomputing, high-performance computing, cloud, and AI. Whether you’re designing next-gen processors, enabling AI breakthroughs, or creating go-to-market plans, every role at AMD contributes to something bigger — technology that moves the world forward.

THE ROLE:

AMD is seeking a Senior Systems Debug Engineer to support system bring-up, validation, and debug of next-generation datacenter GPU platforms. This role will contribute to platform readiness across hardware, firmware, software, networking, power, and SoC subsystems while performing root-cause analysis and resolution efforts.

The ideal candidate will help define validation strategies, develop debug methodologies, document bring-up processes, and work across functional teams to support robust platform performance and production readiness.

THE PERSON:

You are a hands-on senior engineer with strong problem-solving, communication, and debugging skills. You thrive in complex environments, enjoy tackling challenging hardware/software integration issues, and can work effectively across multiple engineering disciplines.

Experience debugging complex hardware and firmware issues is required, along with a strong understanding of GPU systems, including SoC subsystems, PCIe, Power Management and other high-speed IO protocols. Datacenter hardware experience and the ability to drive issues to closure are essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Execute system bring-up, validation, and debug activities for datacenter GPU platforms.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and drive resolution of complex hardware, firmware, and software issues.
  • Contribute to validation plans, debug processes, and technical documentation.
  • Perform hands-on board-level analysis, including power, electrical, and system validation.
  • Work closely with architecture, software, firmware, and hardware teams to support platform readiness.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and share best practices to support a collaborative, high-quality engineering environment.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in SoC or system-level debug and validation.
  • Strong knowledge of GPU architecture and platform components (SoC subsystems, PCIe, Power Management and other high-speed IO protocols)
  • Expertise with industry-standard debug tools, oscilloscopes, and board-level diagnostics.
  • Experience developing debug capabilities, validation methodologies, and production qualification processes.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and scripting languages such as Shell, Perl, or Python.
  • Strong customer-facing and cross-functional collaboration skills.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with 6 years of experience in system-level or SoC debug, validation, and triage.
