THE ROLE: 

AMD's Data Center GPU division is seeking a talented PCB Design Engineer to develop advanced high-speed PCB layouts for next-generation data center products. In this role, you will drive complex board designs from concept through production, develop innovative routing solutions for high-speed interfaces and ASIC packages, and collaborate across engineering disciplines to deliver products optimized for performance, manufacturability, and scalability.

 

THE PERSON:

The ideal candidate is an experienced PCB designer with deep expertise in high-speed board design, PCB manufacturing, and advanced routing technologies. You are a collaborative problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys tackling complex technical challenges, and brings a passion for developing innovative design methodologies that help shape the future of PCB design at AMD.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Design and develop high-speed PCB layouts for AMD data center products.
  • Create routing strategies for advanced interfaces including PCIe, memory, display, and interconnect technologies.
  • Define PCB stackups, impedance requirements, and material selections for high-performance designs.
  • Collaborate with SI, PI, EMI, thermal, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to optimize designs.
  • Develop ASIC ballout strategies, design rules, and PCB design methodologies.
  • Support design quality, manufacturability, and continuous improvement initiatives.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

  • Proven experience designing complex, high-speed PCB layouts for volume production.
  • Expert proficiency with Cadence Allegro PCB Design Suite and Constraint Manager.
  • Strong knowledge of signal integrity, impedance control, stackup design, and HDI technologies.
  • Understanding of PCB fabrication, assembly, DFM, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with scripting, automation, or tool development using SKILL, Perl, C/C++, or similar languages.
  • Experience with PCB libraries, footprint development, CAM tools, or design verification flows.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field preferred.

LOCATION: Austin, TX or Colorado Springs, CO or Markham, Ontario, Canada
