THE ROLE: AMD has an R&D center in Armenia of about 100 employees. Our focus is developing EDA software for Embedded FPGA business. FPGA products require sophisticated development tools for our customers and innovation in state of the art EDA algorithms is an essential component of our software engineering focus. We attempt to recruit and hire the best computer science talent with a focus on discrete math, algorithms and C++. We consider Armenia R&D center as a strategic asset for our Embedded business unit. THE PERSON: We are currently seeking to hire a capable Armenia Site Leader to help scale our operation. We desire to grow the site over time, and to do so we need an effective leadership structure in place. The Site Leader candidate must be a seasoned professional and proven organizational leader with an engineering background. The candidate will report to senior leadership in the US and would be expected to interact effectively with software engineering executives. The ideal candidate will have an EDA industry background to facilitate effective hands-on leadership of our local R&D activities. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Overseeing the operations of Armenia R&D site of 100 R&D engineers and represent Armenia R&D site within the broader AMD organization. Directly manage an R&D team in the area of Placement, Routing and Timing Analysis, working closely with our North America based R&D teams. Actively participate in software development planning and deliver to commitments, achieving required quality standards. Oversee all local site functions, partnering with central AMD HR, IT, Finance and Facilities departments. Inspire, instill and maintain a motivational culture, tailored to the local organization and aligned with our company and the AMD Embedded BU. Oversee employee acquisition and development: hiring, coaching and skills development (leadership and technical), performance management, compensation. Establish, cultivate and maintain university relations to build a robust talent pipeline and explore research and/or curriculum collaboration. Represent AMD Armenia site with Government agencies focusing on opportunities to better support our local operation. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Background in software engineering with prior experience in leading large teams. Experience in cultivating best practices in software development, planning, and quality assurance. ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: MS, Phd in Computer science, Computer engineering or related fields. #LI-AW1
