Lead Performance Engineer THE ROLE: AMD is looking for an outstanding technical leader to drive performance of AMD EPYC Server processors to the next level. Performance analysis of cloud, enterprise, HPC and Machine Learning workloads. THE PERSON: Successful candidates in this role have broad interests in Computer Systems performance, with strong expertise in Computer Architecture, keen attention to detail, excellent collaboration and communication and leadership skills, ability to work independently and come up with creative solutions to challenging engineering problems. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Characterization, tuning and optimization of power and performance for Cloud, Enterprise, HPC/ML/AI workloads. Come up with micro-architecural, and software/ firmware enhancements to improve performance and power efficiency of AMD CPUs on customer applications - working with AMDs compiler, kernel, firmware and Core/Fabric design teams. System and micro-architecture level perfromance debugs and resolve silicon-level performance and power observations/discrepancies in collaboration with cross-functional teams. Collaborate with presilicon teams to project performance of next gen silicon and evaluate and debug silicon measured vs expected performance gaps. PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Strong foundation in CPU core, memory, storage and I/O subsystems Power user of performance profiling and hardware performance counter tools Familiarity with complex cloud or enterprise software such as database, data analytics, machine learning, and relevant benchmarks such as SPECCPU, SPECjbb15, etc. Good knowledge of operating systems concepts (e.g. scheduling, memory management, paging, interrupt handling, etc Good programming skills Excellent Data analysis skills (Excel or Python) #LI-PK1 Benefits offered are described: AMD benefits at a glance.
