THE PERSON: 

We are seeking a highly experienced Firmware Architect to lead the definition and evolution of next-generation firmware architectures for Confidential Compute. This role will focus on industry confidential compute, and virtualization security features as well is AMD proprietary technologies such as SEV, SEV-TIO, and SEV-SNP. You will play a key role in shaping firmware architecture strategy, influencing silicon design, and enabling industry-leading capabilities.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Own firmware architecture for Confidential Computing technologies.
  • Define end-to-end system architecture, requirements, design direction, and technical strategy.
  • Drive architecture reviews and technical alignment across firmware, security, virtualization, platform, and software teams.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality architecture and design specifications.
  • Lead definition of Trusted I/O technologies including:
    • Device attestation
    • SPDM
    • TDISP
    • Secure MMIO
    • IOMMU security architectures
    • Virtualization security features
  • Identify architectural risks and drive mitigation plans early in the product lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with firmware development teams to ensure successful implementation of architectural requirements.
  • Partner with validation teams to define test strategies and coverage plans.
  • Work with industry standards bodies and ecosystem partners as needed to influence future security and virtualization architectures.
  • Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across multiple programs and organizations.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with Confidential Computing technologies including:
    • AMD SEV / SEV-TIO / SEV-SNP
    • Trusted Execution Environments (TEE)
    • Secure virtualization
  • Knowledge of PCIe, CXL, IOMMU, device security, and platform security architectures.
  • Experience with SPDM, attestation frameworks, device authentication, or secure boot technologies.
  • Experience working with cloud providers, hyperscalers, or enterprise security customers.
  • Familiarity with server platform architecture and data center products.
  • Experience leading architecture reviews and influencing technology direction across organizations.
  • Deep understanding of computer architecture, system firmware, and server platforms.
  • Experience defining architecture and requirements for complex firmware features.
  • Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies and operating system fundamentals.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to lead large cross-functional technical initiatives.

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
