AMD together we advance_ THE ROLE AMD is looking for a highly talented engineer to join our AMD Instinct Engineering team. Technical, hands-on Val/Debug lead responsible for AMD Instinct Product features/system debug/validation and enablement through BIOS, system firmware, and OS levels This individual will be primarily responsible for interfacing with silicon, firmware, and platform design groups during critical issue escalations and help get issues resolved in time to meet product development or sustaining milestones. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Include debugging AI and HPC systems with an emphasis on platform level debug. Knowledge and use of standard debuggers, programmers, and emulators. A thorough understanding of AI/HPC industry standard busses, such as DDR/HBM, PCIe, and other high-speed IO protocol is required in addition to detailed knowledge of high-speed digital design and signal integrity. Further requirements include a strong understanding of BIOS, OS, and driver interactions at the system level as well as a proficient understanding of x86 CPU architecture, GPU architecture and functionality. Providing root cause analysis and guidance to internal and customer design teams to help close issues. Support project independently and handle all issues to co-work with INT/EXT team well. A self-starter required and able to deal with a high level of ambiguity. Work with cross-functional teams to improve post-silicon validation test strategy, methodology, and process PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Experience with SoC architecture and microprocessor cores Understanding of modern x86 microprocessor architecture and AI/HPC platform architecture is highly desired. Experience developing validation methodologies and infrastructure. Test plan and test development experience Participated in silicon bring up and debug, support to internal engineering teams. Able to execute and drive success of programs with multiple projects on-the-go Debug skills at both SoC and system level Familiarity with programming / scripting language (C/C++, Python, Perl, ...) Working knowledge of Server OSes (Linux, Windows) Must be a self-starting team player with excellent communication skills who can work with minimal guidance. Forward thinker that drives improvement to development process, code architecture and fosters a spirit of innovation and continuous improvement. Strong verbal and written English communication skills. Working knowledge of lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and protocol analyzers AI/HPC software stacks, ROCm, TensorFlow or Pytorch is a plus with regards to AI application Self-organizing and the ability multitask based on priorities. ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Electronics / Computer Science related with 15 years of experience in SoC validation and debug.
