- Bachelors Degree
- Professional software development experience (non-internship)
- Experience with designing and creating architecture for scalable systems using modern design patterns
- Proficiency in at least one programming language
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities for complex systems
- Experience with IEC 61131-3 Structured Text programming language
- Master's degree in a related STEM field
- Experience with PowerShell (preferred), Python, Ruby, or Java
- Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $235,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. We are seeking System Development Engineers to join our In-House Controls team within World-Wide Central Engineering. This global role requires a dynamic individual ready to travel and lead the deployment of automation solutions across our international network. The ideal candidate will have a continuous improvement mindset, demonstrate Bias for Action, and be prepared to lead complex software development and implementation for automation systems.

Willingness to travel up to 20% accordingly with business needs


Key job responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement software solutions for automation systems
- Lead global deployments of software projects
- Manage high-impact software releases to ensure minimal operational disruption
- Train and mentor engineering team members
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Contribute to engineering reviews, impacting solutions for systems and architecture

About the team
Our In-House Controls (IHC) team within World-Wide Central Engineering develops, deploys, and scales automated solutions globally. We deliver pioneering solutions that integrate seamlessly into existing and new facilities worldwide. IHC will develop and deploy the software for all future WW AMZL automation, from software design through to commissioning and deployment and operational on-call support.
