Solutions Architect

- Experience with one of the following programming languages: Python, Ruby, Node.js, C#, or C++
- Experience with two or more of the following: networking fundamentals, security, storage or databases (relational or NoSQL), operating systems (Unix, Linux, or Windows)
- Experience implementing a cloud-based technology solution
- Experience in any of the following: Cloud Architecture, Systems Design, Software Development, Infrastructure Architecture, Data Engineering or DevOps

Are you passionate about helping customers solve real technical challenges through thoughtful cloud architecture? As a Solutions Architect I at Amazon, you will partner directly with customers to design and deliver cloud-based solutions that drive measurable business outcomes. You will work at the intersection of technology and business strategy, translating customer needs into well-architected designs that are secure, reliable, and cost-effective.

This role is ideal for a curious, collaborative technologist who thrives on learning and wants to build expertise in cloud computing architecture while making a meaningful impact. You will gain hands-on experience designing solutions, contributing to technical content, and developing trusted relationships with customers — all while growing your career alongside experienced architects who are invested in your development.

Key job responsibilities
- Work with customers to architect cloud solutions where the business objective, opportunity, and strategy are defined, owning the design and delivery of solution components while making appropriate trade-off decisions across areas such as load distribution, data store selection, scaling strategy, and failover mechanisms.
- Collaborate with customer technical teams to dive deeply into design choices, best practices, and use cases, participating in constructive discussions that help customers understand both the opportunities and risks associated with their technical decisions.
- Apply design best practices for security, reliability, cost optimization, operational excellence, and performance efficiency, recognizing when to leverage existing solutions and when custom approaches are needed.
- Contribute to the development, delivery, and maintenance of technical content — including sample code, presentations, and workshops — to educate customers and share best practices.
- Partner with internal teams such as sales, business development, and engineering to progress customer opportunities through their lifecycle and provide actionable product feedback through appropriate channels.

A day in the life
You might start your morning reviewing a customer's architecture proposal, preparing recommendations that balance performance and cost. Later, you join a technical deep-dive with a customer team to walk through design options for a new workload migration. After lunch, you collaborate with a more senior architect to refine a solution design, gaining practical insight into long-term architectural implications. You wrap up by drafting a blog post that captures a recent technical pattern you helped implement.
