The Under the Roof Labor Planning Technology (UTRPT) team is looking for a Software Development Engineer to join us in creating solutions that power Amazon's labor planning capabilities.
Our team owns fundamental services used to make labor planning recommendations, working closely with Science and Data Engineering teams to integrate and support planning solutions. As a member of our engineering team, you'll have the opportunity to write high-quality code, collaborate across teams, and contribute to services that impact Amazon's operations at scale.

In this role, you will: • Write and maintain high-quality, well-tested code that meets Amazon's standards • Work with Science and Data Engineering partners to implement and support model integrations • Participate in the full software development lifecycle including coding, testing, deployment, and operations • Contribute to team operational excellence through on-call support and problem resolution
A day in the life
- Using AI-native software development, you will design, build, and maintain production services that support labor planning recommendations across Amazon's fulfillment and delivery network
- Collaborate with Science and Data Engineering partners to implement and integrate planning models and data pipelines
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle: design, code review, testing, deployment, and operational support
- Work across cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end planning capabilities that impact operations at scale
- Write clean, well-tested code and participate actively in code reviews to uphold engineering standards

The Under the Roof Labor Planning Technology (UTRPT) organization builds the software systems that power labor planning across Amazon's fulfillment, delivery, and operations networks. Our services influence how hundreds of thousands of associates are scheduled every day — generating shift recommendations, capacity predictions, and planning signals that operators and planners depend on. We work at the intersection of software engineering, machine learning, and operations research, partnering closely with Science and Data Engineering teams to bring planning models into production. We value engineering rigor, operational ownership, and continuous improvement, and we're in the middle of a multi-year effort to consolidate and scale our platform across new business lines and geographies.
