Software Development Manager, Vulcan Stow

- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience in building ML infrastructures
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
- 4+ years of experience in building ML Ops infrastructure - data pipelines, training infrastructure, model deployment and registry, simulations and metrics visualization.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. We are seeking hands-on, Software Development Manager to own the ML deployment of a new robotic workcell into the fulfillment network. You will be deep in code and computer vision algorithms. Key job responsibilities
- As a manager, you will be responsible for delivering and maintaining critical ML capabilities in the fulfillment network.
- You will be responsible for leading an ML Ops team building data pipelines, training infrastructure, model deployment and registry, simulations and metrics visualization.
- You will prioritize being a great people manager: motivating, rewarding, and coaching your diverse team is the most important part of this role. You will recruit and retain top talent and excel in day-to-day people and performance management tasks.
- You will keep your technical skills current to contribute to architecture and design discussions.
- You will regularly take part in deep-dive troubleshooting exercises and drive technical post-mortem discussions to identify the root cause of complex issues.
- Set a vision for your team and create product roadmaps. Help your team sort out technical and product requirements and priorities. Use project management skills to deliver product roadmap items and other cross-team projects.
